I didn't know much about it until some Brian Wilson fans on here pointed me In the song's direction! It sounds a bit like Burt Bacharach, but also definitely different as well.

Great performance as always, man! I wanna share something with you. So, i'm a music student, originally a classical guitarrist but transitioning to piano (i decided to do that quite late, at age 25) and because of that i joined some piano classes that my university offers as an extension to the course we're actually taking. My piano teacher insists that even though we mostly learn solo piano pieces, we still should know how to play and sing at the same time, to help with overall coordination, so finally here's what i wanted to share: For our first test, i played Surf's Up and it was a great moment, no one knew the song but everybody loved it, my teacher even asked ''who's that from?'' and seemed genuinely interested by the piece, and all of that was only possible because of your tutorial :) So thank you very much, and i hope that motivates you to do more tutorials, you have an amazing ear!
