@@foxstomp4016 twitch rivals is a whole ass event organizer. There's almost no reason to blame Sajam or any of the Sajam Slam staff for the TV error. There was a perfectly servicable gaming setup for each team had that been the plan. (And also, the Sajam Slam is primarily an online event) Somewhere in the pipeline, the decision was made for a dedicated "Couch" setup that The Slam team probably didn't have any control over hardware-wise. At worst, you could argue that this ruined the event and whoever at the twitch rivals team that set it up ruined it. But, at the end of the day, it's a production error from a team that has to account for multiple gaming communities that just slipped through the cracks. tl:dr; Sajam and the Slam team definitely isn't at fault, and the Twitch rivals team made an understandable mistake since they're not a dedicated FGC organizer.

Whether or not their excuses are good, events like this would NEVER give say valorant or something else like that the “family room tv” setup. It’s unacceptable that they would have proper setups for the other games, fucking MINECRAFT for gods sake, and then look at any game with a parry mechanic and go “nah I got a flatscreen that should do it right”
@hteety3 ай бұрын
To be fair, a setup like this is more FGC than having everyone on setups. The choice of a TV over a large, low lag monitor was the aberration, but at the same time, huge tourneys like EVO are played on PS5s with latency even if they're on monitors. I the TV had been on game mode, it wouldn't really be that bad, probably easily comparable to many big FGC events. The other thing is that it is logistically impossible to play those games on TVs because you dint have multiple people on one set up for those. I think of Valorant or Minecraft was a game that people normally play split screen on, Twitch would definitely make them play on TVS. Twitch doesn't care, but it's not like it's even physically possible to play 5v5 on a single TV setup, or get 20 TV setups for fortnite

All things considered I think the slam was fun to watch and had some really hype moments in the later sets if you were locked in to the tournament and ignorant about the debacle (Which I was)

It really sucks for Sykkuno and Eskay man. Especially Sykkuno given being the "beginner" tier matchup vs a Blanka where reactions are a must since blanka is going ham with initiating moves like blanka ball and his command grab. Massive input delay vs that is down evil. It also sucks for the other side since you don't feel like you get a proper win. Also you KNOW some annoying people gave them some shit for winning despite it not being something they could control. I'm rehashing a bit, but boy it was nice to see Sykkuno go off. Be salty bro. No joke, I would have been complaining for a runback on those initial matches. For this event being a fighting competition, if they weren't going to have the individual players on their own rigs with monitors, then production should have had that TV on game mode from the start. Eskay and Sykkuno got shafted, through no fault of their own, because they're new enough at this they didn't know enough to check the TV settings.

Honestly agreed for having the regular set-ups. Let the players get to enjoy the live environment and the crowd, but watching at home we barely get to see the pop-offs, we can’t really even hear the team comms, we end up with these issues with lag that make everyone play worse than they would like. I think the first two slams had wonderful team environments for their finals, and seeing the setups that weren’t used, twitch definitely could’ve still provided that same atmosphere as well as the live show. At least we’ll know for next time, all we can do is hope.

In reference to "almost a full second of lag", that's entirely possible. A lot of consumer TVs when outside of game mode have absolutely atrocious delay. And based on everything else youve said about the TV, it doesn't seem like they went out of their way to get a particularly good TV. It looks like a standard LG TV, probably on the cheaper end, definitely not an OLED or anything. 30-45f of input delay sounds about right after factoring in the whole setup. That sounds miserable to play in, especially after working that hard and travelling for a tournament with so many people watching. Congrats to the whole team for the wonderful showing you had throughout the whole Slam, though! It was a lot of fun to follow the whole training arcs and everything. Looking forward to hopefully another slam in the future

@theuzi85162 ай бұрын
To peeps who think Team JB also having input lag evens the field: The issue with input lag is that especially at lower levels where people can't really switch up their playstyle as easily, the lag gives aggressive players a huge buff because the defender is expected to pass reaction checks in neutral (like basically anything Gumi did to Sykkuno) and getting the correct punishes is also timing-dependent since you still have a narrow window if you want to get the big stuff out. So yeah, given that Sykkuno and Eskay are both generally defensive, the input lag actually skews the playing field even if both sides have it.

That’s the funny mental image I got from that badge story, it’s so petty but it’s hilarious. The Tv setup is so frustrating, I usually play fighting games on Pc with a good monitor. Guilty Gear Strive was on the game pass and decided to try it out. My Tv is 65 inches and I don’t play a lot of things that are input heavy, so I didn’t think it would be that bad on game mode. It was noticeable and I lost to someone I would’ve never lost to. I logged back in with the Pc for the run back, but unfortunately that person wasn’t in the lobby anymore. The team was pretty strong I also believe you could’ve made it to the finals. I don’t agree with Nephew, I like the pricing split, I love when everybody eats. If it was me, I’m in a good spot where money is not really an issue and I’d walk in there knowing win or lose I would be fine, I’d rather everyone get a piece than winning the whole pot.
