The audience appreciation is a pleasing bonus but it's not a requirement for me. This is my idea of taking up painting for a retirement hobby, lol.

Always enjoy your videos, Brian. I don't really know how to explain the path to KZbin success, other than making videos. Spend 3 days editing a labor of love that gets 100 views, then sit down with a camera in the park and talk for 30 minutes, upload it and get 8K views. It seems random, but if I had to say what the difference is, it's being comfortable on camera, knowing the subject matter, and just being authentic. And no matter what happens (100 views or 8K) make another video right away.

Hey Brian, I started our channel about 3 years ago now, I’m 57 and really enjoy it, we’re just about to hit 7000 subscribers, I’ve got a really loyal subscriber base, once people find us they seem to stick around, our channel is predominantly about travelling on motorcycles, getting some serious traction is hard, not sure if it’s the topic, the thumbnail, us? Not sure but I wish I knew, love the information you provide
@BriangjohnsonTv2 ай бұрын
One thing to consider is that people don’t subscribe for thumbnails, or topics, or titles. They can help a channel once the average nation and watch time metrics are high, but I would focus on that. Focus on the engagement signals like subscriber gain, watch time, And screen click through and more. For me, I think the easiest way to do. This is focus on average view duration. Viewers that clearly triggers and signals the algorithm.
@TheHarleyRoadshow2 ай бұрын
@@BriangjohnsonTv so what would you consider a good average view time? I’m sitting at around 50-55% across the channel, we’re gaining a consistent 2-300 subscribers per month now, not sure if this is good when here you say you’re gaining in the thousands, I believe our content is good, maybe because we are producing predominantly Australian content and our population isn’t as high as other areas especially in the motorcycle/Harley Davidson niche? Great video Brian! It's jam-packed with real information you could only have if you have been on YT a long time and found success. I have noticed huge changes in this last year in channel views and what my audience needs. During the pandemic, my audience wanted comforting deep conversation videos but those types of videos are not what my audience needs now. I find a channel is like being in a relationship and trying to figure out what your partner needs. I have stopped watching 98% of all the channels I used to watch for mostly the same reason, complete stagnation and it's painful...and I see it in myself and it has to change. Have a great week! xo Sues & D

@BriangjohnsonTv2 ай бұрын
Subscribers are not pointless. Totally disagree with that statement. I understand the perception behind that but one thing to consider is that when someone subscribes it sounds a very very powerful engagement signal to the algorithm, which can help a video actually get more views. That being said at the end of the day, I don’t think it really matters too much as long as people are focused on making videos viewers really engage with. Glad you enjoyed the video my friend
