I'm a beginner. Teaching myself to be closer to my father. I lost both parents 3yrs ago and was crushed. 50yr old disabled dad, broken. I've always had trucks since the 80's. Flying was always build for months and smash. My uncle was into flying. He would take dad out to shows with him. One day it just hit me. Learn to fly... it has been a godsend honestly. Finding used stuff in my area has proven near impossible. But I have an old super cub lp that I practice crashing. I mean flying. I know it's all blah blah to everyone. But it's been the world for me. I have 4 daughters. Our youngest has down syndrome. It's been a godsend for them. I've been exited about something. Sorry for my sad BS. But it is my story. Thank you for everything and hope you all have a great Christmas. May Santa bring that plane you want. I'll keep on watching.

Thanks for sharing Jeff. Spending time with family and enjoying this hobby is a GREAT way to really have some quality time together, and to share some purpose! Very sorry to hear you lost both of your parents three years ago. I lost my Mom when I was 10, and it was pretty terrible, but I can say that it definitely lights a fire under your seat...gotta get busy living, since there's no guarantees of tomorrow! Make the memories you wish you were able to make with your folks with your kids. Thanks for being here with us! Merry Christmas

Brian, at 5:48, you mention slowing down the playback speed - i do this almost everytime i set up a plane. Im still using the DX6. Most of what you do for transmitter setup with the NX10 still applies and works on my old radio. But sometimes you go a little fast. The slower playback speed setting is great. To me, the slow playback makes it sound like you're drunk. I enjoy it a little too much. But its really helpful. Thanks as always for the content and channel.

35 years ago I was going to try RC planes. I bought and almost completed two balsa kit planes plus had the gas engines, radios, etc but life got in the way so never flew/crashed anything. A few months ago from KZbin I learned there were pre-built electric planes. Incredible. I bought RealFlight simulator and have been practicing 3 to 4 hours a day for six weeks. (I’m retired). I don’t know how people learned without it. I just bought the Apprentice STOL since it was on sale (now I have two of those transmitters). Sorry I didn’t see your video for the link before I ordered. Living in the big city of Houston I don’t have a big yard to fly it. I guess I’ll have to pay the $150 to join a club. And yes you do speak a little fast.

I started flying RC this past May, with a UMX timberx and a second hand dx6e. Fortunately, i had a LOT of free time to fix- er, i mean fly (should have specified which "timber" when my wife surprised me with my 1st plane😂) AND an exhaustive video library of knowledge from Brain Phillips RC. Now, im flying the FMS Supercub 1.3, the FMS Maule and that beat up UMX TimberX whenever my new work schedule allows on my new NX8. And i havent needed to replace a prop in weeks. Ive also convinced my wife to let me use my NX8 before Dec 25th (Christmas "beer truck" miracle!) . I've learned so much from watching these videos. Every single playlist has awesome tidbits that i use- even if the video had nothing to do with any of my planes. Ive upgraded to Avian ESCs and AR630s in my big boys. And BPRC walked me through it all. Can't tell enough new rc pilots- watch BPRC on youtube. Every spare minute you've got. You'll be greasing landings with 3.5v per cell left in the "tank" every time. Merry Christmas Brian and Camera Crew and the entire Phillips gang 👍

AWESOME!!! So glad we could help get you started in this hobby. It's both super rewarding, and really pretty HARD...especially when you're brand new, EVEN if you did it 20 years ago...so much has changed. Wait till you have 1800 square feet full, and you're getting dual 40' HC shipping containers delivered in the dark, so you can make more room ;) It'll be EPIC ;) - Don't share this part with the other half - LOL ;)

Actually the best thing of all from Horizon: Real flight Simulator - Trainer. Thats the 10/10 product to teach anyone fly at least this plane. Even I had 9h I had random flights with X-BOX controller did not harm as practice 30min with real controller got all just perfect even from 47y guy. Flying in real is just continuing from sim after TRIMs set up. No SAFE features needed either more and in real example landing and some tricks easier. That was most crazy feeling to jump from screen view to real having actually all with plane ha[pening exactly same. weird, its like jump from 400x600 screen to 4k VR ...or actually even more crazy as jump completely to realife view - pure awesome - so happy with RF. I going to use RF definitely for tricks practice in future AND Apprentice STOL looks for as perfect plane to learn withit.

In real Apprentice STOL plane as noob is better having more battery weight in it. In RF sim it as well acts like having actually 2s 450mA battery on it or so buit from other matters sim is very accurate. I've only 2s 300mA bats and I like to fly it now with 2x 300mA batteries paraller at front of it (just to have weght) loaded back as possible having improvement for stability in turbulences and in wind. dual-bat weight require appr 60% of throttle in place of 40%. Handling/bat consumption not much changed for "noob-needs" but stability in turbulent is hugely improved which is very poor with plane at the beginning - just in fact: making it less STOLL/helicopter but making it for as solid-stable airplane to fly reducing "maple leaf" -effect good time.
