I know several people whose parents were developers so they became developers, but it wasn't like that for me It just happened because I love using tech. I honestly haven't met anyone Russian in the companies I've worked for (but that's a small sample size). Though I have read many posts of people coming to the US for work, so it's not impossible. Larger companies (FAANG) are more likely to provide VISA sponsorship for skilled workers. Sorry, can't give you a direct answer... best of luck in Uni studies! 🤞
