@@HairynosedWombat163 I would LOVE for that to be possible. The Electoral College is ensconced in the US Constitution so POTUS simply can't abolish it. A new Constitutional amendment would have to be passed to remove the EC. What the US Constitution does NOT say is "how" the EC Votes are distributed. That is what needs to change. Make it like NE and ME: Distribute the EC Votes proportionately. It's not fair to the Blue voters in Red states or the Red voters in Blue states to not be represented by a "winner take all" EC format. If you get 60% of the votes? You get 60% of the EC Votes. Round up/down to the nearest votes however your state decides (or how a possible EC Amendment is written). Or EC Votes are given to the winner of the Popular Vote instead (there's a movement for that already happening).

I was in California during this time. Trump also withheld PPE supplies so Newsom had to go overseas to get it - at a price much higher. Here in NC Gov Cooper asked for $900k for hurricane relief. After two months Trump gave Cooper 1% of that. But Trump shipped our covid testing machines to Putin while our hospitals did without and people died.

Trump is truly despicable. I'm not an American citizen but one of my sons became a citizen and lived and worked in California for 15 years. He was proud to be a reserve firefighter and Trumps withholding of support for California was sickening. Fighting those fires is so dangerous for those on the front line and when they're really widespread the smoke can be seen as far away as New Zealand. My son also joined law enforcement in California. He died saving the lives of people in the community in which he lived, in service to his adopted country. Trump doesn't care about lives that are lost or grieving families left behind.
