Both David Pakman and Brian have written a book about it, but the big problem is that people don't read books. And if they do it is mostly fiction. The solution would be a book of fiction that explains the issue like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984. I am a boomer. I was a successful entrepreneur until The Great Republican Recession. Didn’t qualify for unemployment. Lived on my retirement savings for 3 years. I finally found work, but never could replace my savings. I am struggling, but I am well educated & politically informed. Democrats know how to solve problems & build the economy. Same story here (almost). Before 2008 we had almost $2 million in a 401(k) and I told hubby to move his stuff out of stocks...and he "forgot." We lost all of it except a little over $1500, and then he lost his job as a professor at the age of 62. It took him years to find another job. We're just now digging out of that, and I can't do this again. He's 75 now and is working 3 part-time jobs, I work 2 jobs, and he waited to draw SS until age 70. I'm afraid of wiinding up homeless when he's gone.

I'm an older woman with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. When I first started in radio in 1983 we had to wear dresses, by 1998 woman were still only on morning shows with men, mid-days or nights. I’m in AZ and went to buy something from Marketplace yesterday. I asked if he was happy or not with the results and he said to me “My husband and I didn’t like either one and didn’t vote”. Of the 20's - 30's segment that they asked, some said yes, some said they had to get their voting card ... in short, none of them realized that voting had already happened on Nov 5th and IT WAS OVER! I am Austrian and I see the same problem in Germany and Austria. As someone who is very interested in politics, I unfortunately have to realize that people hardly have the competence with the new media, whether it's KZbin, podcasts, Instagram, TikTok, etc. They are able to download the apps and watch/listen to it, but they can't filter it properly. Come on, believing the 1:1 that if you take hurricane relief payments or vote for a candidate you will then be dispossessed etc. without immediately asking yourself “Wait, can this even be true?” It shouldn't matter if you're conservative or progressive, everyone should be able to understand that this is nonsense. I'm now asking myself whether I should even feel sorry for these people who then vote for such right-wing populists? I mean, if they no longer want to concern themselves with what is really in the programs, what do they want to implement and only listen to who is making the other side look as bad as possible and spreading the most brazen lies about the other side. I've also seen this in interviews on German/Austrian television for a few years now, where reporters go to people and ask them what they want apart from a tough migration policy, mainly social issues such as affordable rents, housing costs, enough money to get by, a good healthcare system, etc. Ironically, the right-wing populists do not address these issues at all, but usually have plans in their programs that run counter to them. Nevertheless, people are currently firmly convinced that these parties will help them to a better life. Sometimes this goes so far that people are accused by the supporters of these parties that it is a lie that these parties have in their program. I know people who have already despaired of this, even if they have been told that it is in the party manifesto, which can be downloaded from the party's website. Some people don't even want to hear that...🤷‍♂

I agree with Brian that left have to go to where the people are paying attention - not just legacy media but all the tiktoks, youtube, insta, etc. As an American citizen who is an immigrant, I've found it mind-boggling that education is SO inconsistent across the country. I feel this is the other critical issue here. Depending on where you go to school, you may or may not be taught critical thinking and how government works. Here’s something I noticed pre-election: I live in the city of Atlanta. I have a Harris for President sign in my yard as well as a Harris for President sticker on my car, many of my neighbors do too. This election cycle, I received an abundance of pro Harris flyers in the mail and tucked in my front door. Now Atlanta and the immediate metro area is very blue. My area really did not need convincing like a more rural area. This is just my observation. I appreciate the hardworking volunteers, I volunteered this year myself in the postcard writing campaign and zoom meetings on how to talk to people about the election. So in my perhaps scattered point, we didn’t get the message out to those who didn’t know what Harris stood for or the implications of a second Trump term. Just my thoughts.

Hi Americans, I know this isn't much to cheer anyone up. But here in the Philippines, the people fought to overthrow a dictator and bring back democracy. That was Marcos. And just a few years ago, who did Filipinos re-elect. Yup the dictators son. Fair and square election. Not only this but remember Brexit, the majority voted for it, now they hate it. Even Maduro was voted in 2013 fair and square, then he ran Venezuela to the ground. Sometimes, it's the "people" who is at fault. Democrats are pointing fingers but I disagree, they did terrific, Kamala did terrific. They did everything right and did everything the right way, to this day they're still doing things the right way, declared concession and a peaceful transfer of power, did not build an insurrection. You guys on the right side of history did not make the mistake this time it was the people. Sure there were mistakes, Biden should have dropped out sooner, they should have made more appealing campaign focus, but still everything they did was great and overperformed. But imagine the people thinking concepts of a plan is a good strategy, they fully well know that he is a convicted felon and still voted for him. No the democrats and their campaign is not at fault. It's the people. Brexit, Venezuela, Marcos, there are times in a democracy where it is the people who are at fault. I live from the opposite side of the world. Yes, but the messaging came out too late. Project 2025 was hit hard initially. The right denied it. The left continued to talk about it through a focused lens of reproductive rights. It resonated, but missed patriarchy men concerns. Other messaging was too small to make a difference. Kevin Roberts is back out that he will win his way. Hard truths? Kamla didn't improve Biden's performance in a single county anywhere in the country. Trump got 2% less support (fewer votes) than he got in 2020 but still won by 3.3% of the total vote. We had massive voter registrations and turnout but the numbers suggest we had less then 2020, which is just patently false. There's pictures of people in line for hours.
