This S rank really soured my opinion on this fight. The fight itself is fine but Doom surf is kinda hard to be precise with making this S rank a complete nightmare. I can't count the amount of times a ramp didn't work, or doom surf's turning failed me, or spinning got me hit because of how wild it is.

true.. in my run i only used the bumpers to do the spinning for big movements. the start is the hardest since you have to bump into so much debris to knock out enough health to end the hallway section BEFORE he transitions into the tail attack. so much time is saved if you get phase 1 done as soon as possible and that can ONLY be done with BOTH knocking the debris and hitting the rainbow rings

So far this fight is really making me hate doom surf dare I say even more so than doom morph. I also can't stand how often people will use "skill issue" as an excuse for these genuinely awful controlling abilities. It just makes it feel like artificial difficulty.

​@zetafish7347eh i don't know why you said that maybe difference in experience but to me the fight is pretty good, you adapt fast to the tight controls and see the pattern rather easily unless you really aren't trying, it took me like 7 attempts to obtain S in hard mode and i really like to replay it a lot

3:20 Omg, I had no idea you could use Chaos Control while he throws the warship and just homing attack the debris to do a crazy amount of damage. This is thankfully what helped me come in clutch in order to beat his second phase much quicker.👌🏽

It's so satisfying to get S rank after beating Metal Overlord on hard mode. It's also one of my favorite boss fight in the series.

Is it just me or is the jump ramp at 1:14 bugged, I keep hitting all the other ramps just right but that one just dosent seem to work right

Possibly, the other 2 I hit X when I'm on them and that third one I have to press right before getting on. Still feels like its up to luck 😒

i try not to hit the jump button at the end of the ramp like it were a trick, but hitting it right as youre on the flat center of it prompts the scripted high jump. i almost never miss it but i think its about how you approach it

Try spamming the jump button instead of pressing it in the right moment when you get on the ramps. It has helped me on many attempts

wasn’t that much of a complication after doing normal Metal Overlord’s S rank, rubble was just a bit more difficult to hit because you have to be more precise. love how doom surf plays, though, feels very snappy.

the time bonus matter the most, rings only gives you 1000 points max (but still important in this fight), you need to skip the tail swiping phase

​@@NeffJeff95you need to swing as much debris to him as possible before reaching the rocket phase. If you do that, you'll do enough damage to skip the tail swing phase

That tail whipping segment was frustrating, trying to jump two times in a row feels impossible. Also, make sure to shut off "Move Tutorials", or the premature button prompts may fool you into jumping early, which will hurt you...

If you do enough damage you can actually avoid the tail whipping section, but you have to be VERY precise about when you send the rubble toward him. I pulled it off one time trying to get the sonic rank, but I wasn't recording unfortunately.

The timing for the jumps is literally just press the button when his eye flashes However to get hard mode you have to skip the tail segment either way
