Shunsui's shikai is based on children's games and his bankai is based on theatre plays adults. We know this because the play shunsui is telling is a suicide story of a couple, a man and a woman. Lillie Barro is the man, Shunsui is the woman. In Act 1: because the man hit the woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them (and it becomes real damage). Act 2: the man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness because of this great shame. Act 3: as a way atone the man drops into a endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him. However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman. Act 4: As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat and then she drowns, as if the promise they made was never broken.

I think it was much better than the manga - the additional coloring really hammers home that traditional Japanese stage play feel - and the animation and sound effects just take it over the top, I'd 100% remember this over the reading it in the manga - it elevates it to another level.

Some details about the bankai. Katen Kyokotsu has the ability to turn children games into reality, and the bankai turns theater plays into reality. The play follows a man (Barro) who starts sharing the pain he inflicted on someone (Shunsui), gets stricken with a disease because of guilt, jumps into a river to atone, and finally dies. Katen's favorite plays are tragedies, so using it brings a lot of risks to both Shunsui and his comrades since a protagonist dying in tragedies is pretty common

@@manopars4 Kyoraku's zanpaktou overwrites the rules of realityu with it's own ruleset. It is insanely powerful, and there's quite a few things that point to his bankai being underdeveloped so it could potentialy grow a lot stronger.

The main difference in how the anime and the manga portray Kyoraku's bankai is that, in the manga, the sky goes dark and the atmosphere is more oppressive, while in the anime, since the sky was already dark, they decided to go with the whole traditional stage play background, which actually fits perfectly. Only thing weird is that they kept Kyoraku's line about the world feeling lonely and full of despair, but I guess that's just how the pressure from the bankai release makes everyone feel.

Well what can they do manga is black and white its easier to represent dark there and dark normally symbolises despair but here due to what u said despair is repsented like this but god damn they totally did justice to his bankai even better ig coz i have a 18:38 very short term. Memory so i forgot what his bankai was totally it was totally new to me even after reading manga a year ago. And wel its understandable their names are just not easy to remember i am barely able to remember the full names of bankai.

Kyouraku's bankai is a reality warping bankai, the acts he plays follows a suicide theatre, but the final act is not entirely the final act itself. He can perform as much as acts, he wants to play, he says its the final act, but really its the final act of lil barro's story. That's why its OP. Tite Kubo himself told that he can perform so many plays if he wants.

A perfect comparison for his Bankai actually comes from the anime that copied Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen. Specifically Gojo’s Domain Expansion. It’s powerful, but risky to use with allies around since anyone inside gets hit by Infinite Void like in Shibuya. The same logic applies to Shinsui’s Bankai. Quite the coincidence since even in Shikai, Ohana can create a domain of her own spirit energy that makes anyone inside follow her rules. This is why his and Shinji’s Bankai are so dangerous and rarely used.

The Reason he told his Lieutenant to leave was because he knew he was going to use it. When he uses it the Bankai tends to target others without Digression. If his Luieutenant stayed behind she would have become a casualty and hoped that she and the others were far away enough to not be caught up in its theater trope effect. It was because of this Ukitake stopped him durring the Arrancar invasion Arc. If i am not Mistaken it is one of the 3 Bankais that are generally forbidden to be used in Soul Society or around others. 1 being Yamamoto, 2 being Shinji, and 3rd being Shunsui's. Also Speaking of Ukitake, His VA in a recent interview said was sad because he would never be able to say the words Bankai even once :(

I would even say that they have more complex abilities than the younger ones. Probably because they’ve fully matured their abilities.

The female role will be played by Kyoraku himself, and the enemy will be played by the male lover of the woman played by Kyoraku. I think suspect that the original story is a rakugo, a tale of a heart-to-heart with a brothel as its setting. As far as this swastika is concerned, you can tell that the story is like this. A man and a woman are lovers. However, the man causes the woman emotional trauma. The man also fell ill from the regret of having deeply wounded the woman's heart. The two suffering people thought of committing suicide by drowning themselves in water. However, the man became afraid. The woman was already prepared. Act 1:Tameraikizu No Wakachiai (The sharing Hesitation scars) The man and the woman loved each other, but the man hurt himself by inflicting wounds on the woman (Kyoraku). Act.2:Zanki No Shitone (To be deeply ashamed of one's own negligence and to fall ill and lie on the floor) Zanki means to be ashamed of one's wrongdoings, and is originally a Buddhist word. Act.3:Dangyo No Fuchi (They both throw themselves into the water and sink to the bottom) A man's resolve begins to waver as he throws himself into the cold water, But that is selfishness on the part of the man. For understanding Shunsui is not dead . Here its how his Bankai works Shunsuis Bankai is a four act play what can differe in story .here its a Story of a Husband accedential hitting is Wife Grief stricken the husband became and in Depression the Husband and Wife decided to commit suicide Together by Drowning themselvs but the Husband freaks out and tries to swim to the surfaces but the woman has none of it she is able to get to her husband and staps him into the throat the woman survies this but the husband dies. In the Bankai Lilli barro and Shunsui became the Actors . In the first Act Liille Barro strikes first so he became the Husband and Shunsui the Wife. As Act 2 Rolls around Lillie Barro becomes terminal Sick .in the third Act The Husband and Wife had trhown themsevls into the Cold Water here Lilli Barro like the Husband in the story tries to swim to the Surfice but the Wife aka Shunsui Stabs the Husband aka Lillie Barro into the Throat like the Wife did it in the Story
