Do you think a long driveway could be done with this method, holding up to vehicle traffic?

Should the sand be left loose or slightly compacted before laying bricks so once you use the compacter the bricks stay level

The sand should be put in loosely and screeded with a 2x4 to level, then when the bricks are compacted they do so fairly evenly. Sand should be about and 1" thick

Nice. mosaic part is easy, but no idea how to do the base over dirt. What the heck is a class 2 road base? I don't see that on the materials list. How to compact it? How thick of a layer of "road base"?

Road base is called different things in every state. It is available at every quarry. It is a special mix of dirt that interlocks as it compacts. It's not necessary in some soil types. It's highly recommended though for projects prone to settling. 4-6 inches as a base. Compacted the same way the granite was.

@@csalsera it's basically no different than compacted subsoil. Weeds definitely don't like to grow in it but the hardy ones will give it a shot. This really only applies if it's left by itself. With something over it the though such as pavers the problem is non existent.

Can you do this on a concrete patio?

Yes you can, however if you put it on top of existing concrete, it’s gonna be about 3 inches taller with the with the brick and them order that you’ll need to adhere it
