Bulls**t! I love it 😂 and so true! It’s so interesting to see people’s top 10 choices but it’s so subjective at the same time. Some great choices Brick, love your passion and reasoning behind your choices too. The nostalgia thing is still a big pull for me so as long as it doesn’t disappoint when I get it in hand, those childhood feels still get me every time. It’s why I completely forgot to mention Hasbro’s D&D cartoon figures. I was desperate for the whole wave which is unlike me and although the sculpts are a good representation, the quality was severely lacking. A few figs you mention there are on my wish list (both Cosmics!) but I have to say that New Adventures Skeletor completely bypassed me but it looks awesome. Might need to track one down. The Yolopark stuff I’m really interested in especially as they might not be kits, love a model kit but they rarely feel sturdy enough for continuous posing so I’ll be watching your full review on that one. I’m happy with the masterpiece Megs I have but I’ve been interested in their Rise of the Beasts figures. I might have to start calling you Brickatron now 😉 Finally Maestro Union, what a company, definitely one to watch and your photos show i need to do some playing with him, loosen his joints a bit, you got him in some great poses there, I was a bit worried with mine but it looks like there’s no need to be. He’s a photographers dream, it’s a shame there’s something off about their Samurai Hare dude otherwise I’d be picking him up too. Wukong made my list, again hits that nostalgia whilst being an incredible figure in hand. He fits beautifully with Maestro Unions Tiger though. Looking forward to more N.E.W.S and reviews this year!

Thanks for checkin it out, Daz. I think fans with art backgrounds can easily acknowledge the “BULLSH%#T” subjectivity of it all. There’s definitely “standards” or “elements” I look for, but I’m also just open to using flexible lenses to appreciate all the love and craft put into these art objects. Nostalgia’s definitely got a strong influence on me, but moreso in my overall nostalgia for my toy-steeped childhood, rather than restricted to nostalgia for properties. (But give me affordable modern Shogun Warriors or Micronauts…game over.) Related. Tomorrow, if you’re able, the sculptor of Maestro Union, Seba Dom, is doing a livestream demo on the Mythic Legions Cabal on Facebook. I’ll DM ya on IG. Just in case you’re free and curious enough. Even if you’re not super deep into Legions, joining the Cabal is just a great way to learn about the line and a constant masterclass in customizing toys.

I totally agree with your take on Super7. Im a fan of the Weirdest line... and I keep stupidly buying those damn ReAction figs... I want that Yolopark Megatron too (the Optimus looks like it'll look nice next to it). Great Top Ten-ish!

I’m really having fun collecting, learning what I can about the different creative aspects of the toys themselves and the people who enjoy em, and being part of the community conversation. And yeah, Super7 shines with its original properties…plus they don’t have to deal with the angry fans of big IPs when it comes to The Worst or The Weirdest.

Mixed 'em up... It's "The Man With the Golden Arm" and, one of my all-time favorites, "The Chinatown Kid"! Arguably the BEST kung-fu film I've EVER seen - even superior by TODAY'S standards!

@@BrickSomething I HAVE to have my physical media. If I love it that much, I HAVE to have it on disc...before they take out the parts that "some" don't like. Leave ALL films in the manner that the director envisioned!!!

My favorites this year were really low key. The Legacy Evolution Bombshell and Shrapnel took it for me. Finally some cartoon accurate G1 Insecticons, and now we have all 3. I really didn't care for the whole "evolution" gimmick of extra doo dads, but you can just leave those off and you're left with the best Insecticons we've really ever gotten.

Hell yeah. I actually had the original Japanese toys that became the Insecticons. My dad bought em for me on a business trip from San Francisco’s Japantown. But cartoon accurate stuff is pretty rad. It’s ridiculous that it’s taken so long.
