Actually, if mosasaurus were still around we'd know about it. A lot of mosasaurus tended to live in shallow Waters surprisingly even though they were large animals. They didn't actually really like deep Waters all that much, mostly because they were descendants of reptiles like land dwelling reptiles and not actual fish. It's kind of why they look so weird, they were just big lizards that lived in the water.

Not only that, but if their were, somehow a deep water mosasaurus still around. it would be competing with a lot of other predators with similar niches kind of like the shark and it's a big animal. I feel like we would have evidence for it by now if it was still roaming our oceans. Not only that I'm very unsure about what it's reproductive habits were if we even know what they were. But I'm sure it would have probably died from starvation. Most of the animals that it lived off of, lived off of smaller animals, which lived off of plankton. So, when the asteroid hit. It wiped out most of the plankton. It cloaked most of the Earth in dust and blocked up the Sun, and if there's no plankton there's no food. It might have been able to supplement its diet with land creatures but they were dead too. Such a big animal has a big appetite so if it doesn't have food it doesn't survive, and I highly doubt that it could have evolved in time to survive the extinction. With some other extinctions sometimes things can survive but the mosasaurus was just not built to survive. There was no food nothing for it to eat it was a sitting duck, or a legless lizard. The things that survived that Extinction were tiny and small and able to hide in tinny places. That's why mammals survived at the time we were tiny rodents screwing underground and cowering away from dinosaurs. We ran into our boroughs for safety and that's why we survived, we had a place to hide from the big scary asteroid.
