Bricks Builder: CSS Variables, options, Pros, Cons

CSS Variables are a super useful feature and something I use in 90% of the CSS that I write.
So anything makes managing and using them in Bricks Builder is great.
This video looks at the new Variable Manager in Bricks 1.9.8-beta. Also AutomaticCSS and Advanced Themer.

Much quicker to batch copy and paste a whole bunch in using the import arrow top right rather than having to type each variable name and value at the bottom as you demonstrated

That is assuming you already have them in the right JSON format for Bricks.

@@wpeasy You don't have to use a json file, click on the import button and you will also see a dialogue box to paste in variables and their values

is AT the same as ACSS or different?

Totaly different. ACSS is a CSS framework. AT is a bunch of features to make working with Bricks quicker. Also a few extras to enhance Bricks.

With bricks variable manager can you change the name of the variable and it will be reflected where ever you have used the variable in the bricks editor? Like how class renaming works.

@@maximebeguin4346it seems counter intuitive not to have that feature. So once you rename a variable, the earlier usage hangs in the abyss! Doesn't make any sense! Wonder what the reasoning might be! Technical difficulty!

@@John.ReardenI agree it’s not ideal. I guess the reason behind it is it would have bloated the builder, making it massively slower. Btw the same issue exists with colors: if you assign colors to elements, and then change the name of the color variable and update the value assigned to it, the elements won’t be automatically updated until you manually open that specific element. I already raised that issue in the forum but no news yet.

My marketing manager could have shown benefits of using AT’s manager… like the automatic clamp variables, or the theme variables (specific to a theme style rather than all globals). But I must admit I don’t pay him enough for that…
