Bricks for Newbies: Episode 4

Hey all, this is a completely different route than intended.
It was just to difficult to create a flowing video with the builder bugs I was experiencing. What I decided to do is just create the framework and share the files for importing.

Thanks a lot for sharing this framework. I'm seriously tempted to swap acss for a setup like this, as I've also got AT, and feel I'm not using it as much as I could, and perhaps should. Like you say, it does give you more control over things and decreases dependency on other tools like acss. I really appreciate all your efforts in this channel.

What tempted me to do this was that I felt ACSS was doing too much by default. I prefer to start lean and build up, not undo what a framework has done by default. However, ACSS is a lot more comprehensive and designed to work not just with Bricks Builder. So you need to decide what is best for you.

I think these three videos (2-3) should be entitled "how to make a framework in bricks for intermediate level designers". As a newbie, I'm completely lost, and haven't actually learned much about actually making a site with bricks yet. LOL

Imported your files and all went fine. I'm seeing the style guide exactly as you do, but as soon as I go to AT's variables manager and replace the prefix 'fw-' to 'gb-', the styleguide page breaks :( Do you have any suggestions?

I wouldn't change the prefix. I used fw- as a generic prefix for FrameWork. If you change the prefix you will have to do a search/replace on all the classes and ID styles to replace the prefix.

This is probably a silly question but what is it what you call a "mark"?

developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/mark In browsers this normally has a yellow background like a marker/highlighter pen. I use this for highlighting words.
