LEGO Ninjago 2013 Golden Mech vs. 2020 Legacy Golden Mech - Which is Better? (Legacy vs. Original)

The thing that legacy one lacks is amount of gold. Old one was gold with little white and new one is white with little gold. So i would prefer old one

I remember the Legacy Golden Mech was the first set I got in 2020. I think the Legacy one is overall better than the original, but the original is better at being closer to the show

I hadn’t gotten back into Ninjago until 2022 (stopped around between after the movie came out and before season 8 aired), so seeing a wide range of Legacy sets I had mixed feelings over. I loved the original sets the Legacy iterations were based off of as they were basically the same as they were featured in the show. Legacy ones, well yeah, the point of them is to be less accurate than their original, giving room for modification, whether how different it is to the original is up to the designer. So yeah, I initially was against Legacy sets because I was too used to how accurate the originals were meant to portray from the show (most likely blinded by nostalgia). I remember purchasing the temple of light right after hockey tournament got it a month earlier. Had a blast with that golden mech. The older one is more accurate and sizable to the show also the new torso area looks weird for me .

The old one looks better but the body of the legacy one looks better, so I recommend modifying the legacy one to look more like the original

Yeah the amount of red on the Legacy one just feels out of place, plus it looks like Lloyd had Nya, Jay, and Pixal upgrade it to be a Modern Golden Mech instead of an Ancient fighting mech like the original has. But yeah both have good things about them, though I personally would probably go for the original just for aesthetic. And probably show accuracy XD

Old mech is far superior. It’s more of a golden mech. Also, they got the shape from the tv show perfectly. That’s slowched look with the low hat chefs kiss so nostalgic

Overall, while the Legacy mech is cool in it’s own right, and I have nothing against it design-wise, I got the Temple of Light set when it was new, and so for nostalgia’s sake, I have to say the old one is better. Yes it’s flawed, and old, and doesn’t always look great, but it’s the original and just looks epic in my eyes.

I prefer the original Golden mech. Don’t get me wrong, the newer mech has better detail, but that’s also a negative. The chest piece of the mech (idk what it’s called) looks a bit wide with those, the red exposure throws it off, and the straw hat is a negative. I would definitely modify the original Golden mech with the qualities & detail the newer mech has like the extra wing blades in the back, the flag, and the arms & legs
