The best value ever is always taking over old lego collections at thriftstore (or less) prices. I've even been fortunate enough to have been gifted a (small) collection. It might not have contained many great sets or minifigs, but after cleaning and sorting you still end up with a ton of stuff that is still usefull for building. Even the basic bricks in the classic yellow, blue and red will get you filler for mills and bulking up foundations for larger builds. I found that every collection has those in large quantities pretty much always. I'm with you on the stacking though, even though it might be a lot of work and time invested, it is very relaxing. You always have some time to think about the stuff that you get to do with all the bricks, although I usually stick to one or two boxes at most. I found that if you just throw some stuff in a box randomly, you still end up with a reasonable price per brick (depending on the brick type), moderately taking care how you insert them can get you 5-10% more, while carefully stacking can get up to 25-40% more into a box. That is a lot of value you get back for taking about 15-20 minutes of stacking a box neatly. Most of the issues arise if you are taking things that are hard to stack, like lampposts, small trees and other odd sizes that you might want but can't be neatly stacked. Also, if you use panels, you can create a bit of a drawer inside them, where you can further insert more small pieces.

One of the things i like about stacking is that its better for storage, well at least for me. but the con is when im building im always using brick separators, some might not like that sort of thing. i try to stack with storage in mind. sometimes i only put one kind in a box even with the remaining voids that could be filled by small pieces, just so when i sort i can dump the whole box or simply write on it what it is. the cups were better for that being see thru, i still use mine for vegetation piece storage. I keep trying to convince myself its worth the dollar or two to use half boxes for when i think i only need a half box. somethings i get too excited about and over buy a little, other stuff like 2x2 lbg plate boxes ive crushed so many boxes doing train track ballasts, landscape build ups and all my parks and medieval areas are mils style but only plate on plate on baseplate. I decided it wasnt worth the effort to me to stack 2x2 plate, not for the amount ive used and i pretty much stack anything bigger. I feel like the 1x6 if just oriented well, it might have still fared well in value vs time

Bricksie, you need a cart for you packing materials, that way they are off the floor and easy in reach at the same time. Done right and you even have a flat surface where you can fold the boxes into boxes. Get a second one for your bubblewrap packing material , with a axel holder on it, so you can quickly use it. Maybe even a low flat car on which you can place the packet boxes, so you can move them all into the corner, when done. That just leaves a garbage bin and so on, but I'm sure you can figure something out, for that. Basically, get the right support gear and it helps you from making a big mess. Start looking that the Ninjago & Monkie Kid sets, both new & old, you have a mountain to build, so which sets would let you add to this, easily? And can their parts be easily gotten or not? Do you have a standing hole you can make into a volcano lake setup? Because if so, you could put the city on the inner water edge, hidden from view from the other places, a hidden city, so to speak, build into the caldera. Would also explain how you can then also put a sinkhole training's aria somewhere else in the mountain range. There, that a idea? Would cost quite a bit of work, to really get some good height, though. But it would let you create a hidden world. Mmm Was that not a tv-serie with dino's??? Why am I thinking Jurassic Park, here? Really, why?????

In the UK I worked out that it would be better value for me to pay someone minimum wage to pack boxes than it is to just scoop the parts. It just feels so annoying that you can get better value by stacking but you’ll waste so much of your life doing it. I’ve managed to get staff to help me stack parts a couple of times, that made it more social and more sensible for me to do it.
