Although it would’ve been cool if they made metal a brick built character (especially if he had a unique mold for his chest) I can kind of understand why they went with a normal mini figure. Not only would it be cost-cutting, but the standard mini figure design is typically more durable than those skeleton style arms

I think what the big problem with the fig is is the fact that he lacks shoulderpads. Really, the best middle ground would be LEGO giving Metal shoulderpads, IMO.

It’s the top dish piece that “ruins” it for me. Might look better without it? I think the shoulder pad piece should’ve been included with the official one just to give him the shoulder armor look. That piece alone I feel wouldve made the official minifig perfect

Here’s some minor problems I have with the builds, but the builds themselves are still beyond fantastic. 1. Metal’s brickbuilt torso here made his shoulders so low and his head looks way too small for the proportions 2. Metal’s Overlord typically has five spines to recreate the star shaped head of Neo Metal, and I can tell you that the star shaped spines work on that moc 3. For both Mecha Sonics, their eyes just look a bit funky to me, although from a side profile they look fantastic 4. Mecha Sonic Mk2’s feet look very stubby, when they’re supposed to be pretty long 5. Metal Overlord’s arms feel a bit off, so I took the liberty to redesign them for more articulation

I personally think that the build for brick built Metal you did is good, but the coloring would’ve used a bit more blue. Not like full blue robot arms, just like… the actual arms part. The hands being grey is fine.

My only real complaint with the Metal Sonic minifig is that it could've used more printing on the legs, or the legs and arms should have been silver or dark grey with blue printing. I understand it needed to be a minifigure to be up to scale with minifig Eggman, and minifig Sonic.

To be honest, The Metal Sonic build you did, 1:53 has his shoulders way too low. Also 5:23, Mecha Sonic MK 2 appeared in Fleetways Sonic the Comic back in the 90s when he stole the Master Emerald and both Sonic and Knuckles fought him before Super Sonic stomped him.

I’m 1 minute in and I already gotta pause and say it, you should have made one of the legs have the shoe in the upper quadrant. Having both on the bottom doesn’t simulate the movement of him running. edit:3:40 - you used some action pose pieces to make the circle, but you could also put them under the emeralds to give them less of a uniform look. I like to use one with shadow so it looks like he’s tossing and catching the green emerald like his first appearance in SA2 Hero side tbh
