I'll say, American Nightmare seems like Remedy's experiments in enemy variety hastily turned into a game, and I kind of vibe with that, especially having the premise also looking into "hey, what if I tried *this*" and ultimately failing. It actually sort of points out that the team is aware of its weakpoints and at least tries to do something.

@@lop90ful1 You know what, I agree, and that's exactly because I believe that's what they had to do. I'm saying this as someone who works in game dev. Sometimes, things have to be sacrificed in order to make other stuff shine.

5:30 I think this type of architecture is often called "modernist" as well. I'm not very sure what the difference between brutalism and simply modernism is, but I actually like it in real life too. Old buildings with that style have an oddly "livable" feeling to them, with plants and benches and bridges and parks and little conveniences. It's also a very cyberpunk/90s anime aesthetic.
@batti591 Жыл бұрын
brutalism is marked by heavy use of naked concrete. In french this style is called Béton Brut or naked concrete.Which is where brut-alism gets its name.

It became a meme to hate on brutalist architecture, but honestly I love it. I spent a ton of my childhood in and out of old government buildings featuring this style. Typically when I ask those who dislike it to articulate why they can’t put it into words or just claim it’s ugly, which is subjective.
@The1337guy1 Жыл бұрын
@@RecliningWhale Idk if anyone was like "brutalism is objectively bad" but it certainly can be extremely ugly. The Oldest House uses the style very well, there are many places that do not.

This game made me really appreciate Brutalist architecture. It can really be so beautiful when done well. The geometric shapes and symmetry, the clean look and feel to it. A Brutalist building done with care and love can look amazing. It's the Brutalist buildings that were just done cheap that feel like they have no soul and are just ugly and eyesores.
