BRICS announces historic admission of six new members 2023 , | Indepth | Drishti IAS

Recently 6 new members have been included in the BRICS group. In fact, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the names of the new members after the BRICS summit. These 6 countries include - Argentina, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Egypt. Significantly, BRICS expansion was a major focus area in this summit. This membership will be effective from January 1, 2024, next year.
