An Open Letter from The Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile to the participants of the BRICS Summit We welcome all the respected delegates and guests of the BRICS summit, except for colonizers from Moscow and Tatarstan collaborators! We remind the participants of the summit that imperial Russia always uses the Tatars and other nations of the Russian Federation for their own selfish purposes. In the past, Tatarstan hosted the 2013 World Universiade, the 2015 World Aquatics Championship and the 2018 World Football Championship. Indeed, Tatarstan has always held world championships at a very high level, which all its participants and guests recognized. From 22-24 October, Kazan will host the BRICS summit, where the largest international delegations will gather. It was reported that the BRICS Summit in Kazan is awaiting 20,000 guests. Twenty four heads of foreign states have already confirmed their participation, and nine more countries will be represented by people at the second and third levels of state. Such large-scale delegations have never been accepted in the history of the Republic of Tatarstan and the entire Russian Federation. But we, Tatars, are unhappy about this because we consider Tatarstan to be colonized. We also want to draw your attention to the fact that Tatarstan has long been a testing ground for the Moscow Kremlin: today there are 25 enterprises of the defence-industrial complex in occupied Tatarstan, which employ 47,000 people. All these military plants are used by Moscow for the occupation of foreign states. In Ukraine alone, hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed and several cities were bombed with the help of shells made in Tatarstan. Thousands of Ukrainians, including more than 20,000 children, were forcibly abducted to the territory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the genocide of the Tatar people continues through persistent attraction to contract military service with obviously unfulfillable promises and illegal and violent mobilization. Today, the number of Tatarstan natives who died in the war has already exceeded 3,000 people. We responsibly declare that our native Tatarstan is an occupied territory and all its resources are used by imperial Muscovy without the consent of the Tatar people. Moreover, the Kremlin, using aggressive propaganda, like propaganda in fascist Germany, actively misinforms the broad masses of the people and convinces them of the necessity and inevitability of war against Ukraine. We, the Tatars, as a nation once enslaved by Muscovy, advocate the cessation of Russian aggression against sovereign Ukraine, the restoration of the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine in 1991, and the payment of reparations. Tatars are a people with a rich centuries-old history, as evidenced by the scholarly works of Tatarstan and foreign researchers. To be Tatars for us is to preserve the legacy of our ancestors, to know that we have 1,000 years of history behind us, and to be the heirs of Kul Sharif, Syuyumbike, Tukai, and Gayaz Ishaka is our pride. But the Russian colonizers forbade us to even celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Tatar people. At such summits, it is necessary to start discussing the issues of de-imperialization and decolonization of Russia, which even in the 21st century continues to terrorize all of Asia and Europe, repeatedly threatening it with nuclear weapons. The international criminal Putin strengthened his dictatorial regime until the end of his life and confidently moves along the path of Kim Jong-un, and in connection with this the Government of Tatarstan in exile calls on the leaders of the countries, namely the participants of the BRICS summit, to distance themselves from the politics of Moscow. Dear participants of the summit, we urge you to ensure that Russia, as a single state-empire, should cease to exist. This should be the main condition for all countries of the world!
