Hi there, great work and great job with these videos, as a fellow pro makeup artist, was it the camera or the shade of foundation you mixed was couple of shades lighter than her skin tone? Or is that something you did for editorial puppies? Also I always wonder when you are applying the clients skincare, why do you use downward hand swipes as apposed to upwards, overtime that could create sagging and inevitably wrinkles...!!! Just some thoughts..!!! Keep doing great work..!!!

As you can see during the shots when the lighting is strong thr skin tends to look lighter as the lights contribute to that but in the finished look when she is in moody lighting her skin color fits perfectly. Firstly her foundation is not shades lighter at all , it’s highlighted with lighter tones of concealer to bring better structure to the face because in actual reality the makeup we will do on a face shall oxidise & settle down after a while & melt into the skin. We are so used to seeing western makeup artists / influencers making their foundation darker / baking / over contouring etc that we don’t realise that that just doesn’t work in real time. As a makeup artist I want to share what works in actual reality. For your second query the skin prep is being done to prepare the akin for makeup , it’s not a prolonged facial or skincare where we bring circulation to the face & sculpt etc where the hand movements would be upwards alone because you would be focusing on lifting the face over a prolonged time etc. While prepping the face you have to apply moisturisers / primers everywhere from the neck to the jaw to the sides of the face & its quick and the target is skin prep hence 20 seconds of me applying makeup prep products on a clients face does not aid sagging and wrinkles 😂😂 that would happen if I was doing skincare for a prolonged period of time like facial etc.

You are right with the past makeup trends of over contouring and bronzing are not practical for everyday looks and are best suite for more editorial purposes. I mentioned the shade match as I have followed your page your emphases has been particularly a lot more on show casing the true skin color (which I appreciate) thankfully this trend even here in America a has changed and lot more skin tints and your skin but better foundations and complexion products are in. As far as skin prep is concerned, I being a makeup up artist myself and having had my professional training from Paul Mitchel Makeup academy, I am a firm believer and practice good skin care on myself and every client of mine. As I also do believe beauty comes from within FIRST and then the rest can be enhanced with makeup. We are taught very early on to ALWAYS pull skin upwards, even for makeup clients skin preps, and you might only have massages her skin for 20 sec, but say if that model had more than one shoot a day say for fashion week or so or even just other campaigns, that could and most definitely lead to pulling and sagging of the skin, at least that is what we are taught here. This is not a new concept that I have created but has been uttered over and over again especially as of recent. Even the slight pull of the eye for eye liner is frowned upon (not saying I have never done it) but my point was that it is not a suggestion out of the blue. No matter how experienced we get in our professions, we should always be open to suggestions from fellow artists and new techniques especially in makeup as new studies and research and documentation emerges and that is one of the main reasons I watched your videos Incase I can learn something I already don’t know. So instead of the condescending smiley face emojis with your reply, you could’ve just made genuine reply.
