I think that she was so stuck on her vision of a 'bohemian Grecian inspired' dress that she had tunnel vision during the first appointment. That style wouldn't flatter her figure. I am glad that she came back for the second appointment and opted for a more fitted dress that flattered her figure more.

So glad that bridal wear has changed with the times! This is from season 1 which was 2007, and as a plus size woman I used to be so disappointed watching the experience plus size brides had at Kleinfeld's. Kleinfeld now carries sample sizes 8, 10, 12, 18, 20 and 22 in most dresses, and most dresses can be ordered in size 2 to 32.

@@OnLifeandLove Don't try to start a problem. Their sizing is also inclusive to sizes 0 and 00. A size 2 gown absolutely could be altered to both those sizes; however in all likelihood it wouldn't be necessary. Many designers still use older standardized measurement for sizes, so a bridal size 2 is already the equivalent of a ready to wear size 0 or even size 00.

It turned out she needed a dress with a lot of structure, which a flowy goddess bohemian dress doesn't have. Don't come in with one fixed idea in your head, let the experts guide you. Whenever someone comes in with a photo of the dress they want, it never looks like the photo on them and they're always disappointed.

She needs to go to a place with plus size dresses. If you’re plus size, sample sizes will look horrible on you and magnify your plusness. Even if the sample dress would look great if it was your size, it’s impossible to see it when it’s several sizes too small. As a plus size myself, I can also tell you: go in wearing a girdle or corset that you will wear on your wedding day. I haven’t worn a corset since I was 14, but I have worn a girdle in the last couple years, and they make a huge difference. With a girdle, I discovered a new workout that combines aerobics, strength training, and Pilates: getting the thing off and back on when you need to pee.

I liked the first one more, but since it wasn’t the right size and maybe neened something extra like bling or veil and probably undergarments, it wasn’t as photogenic. However the second one looked good too! And think she liked the first one largely because it was first one that felt good and flatttered her while being the style she wanted. So it was natural she regretted it later. She was just relieved at first that she found something.

She needed to try some shapes at a larger cheaper place earlier in the process to get ideas vs depending on magazine models. Then having had her shock and trials she could have hit Randy's place with more willingness to try on gowns that flattered vs tissue paper.

Part of being a plus sized bride is being realistic about the fact that many stores do not cater to plus sized brides. Go to a plus sized boutique. Even if you don't end up picking anything there (or don't think you will pick anything there) try on dresses there to figure out what silhouettes look good on you. Then, if you don't find the dress and really want to go to a store like Kleinfeld, you can at least say, "I know this silhouette looks good on me when it fits properly, so even though this exact dress doesn't look right, it will when it's my size."

If Kleinfeld really wants to convey sensitivity to large brides, they should carry a much bigger selection of dresses which fit them. Lose the preconceptions about brides’ emotional fragility and give them the same service you give to other customers. How is a bride supposed to feel comfortable if she has to squeeze herself into dresses which cannot show her how a properly sized version would look? If they cannot find the size a bride on tv needs, imagine what an anonymous customer faces. The dresses exist; they don’t want to stock them, which means they don’t value the brides who need those dresses.

I usually agree. But I a bride comes in looking at a certain dress, then sometimes she can't move on until she tries on the one in her head. Sometimes the store doesn't have the right size. Sometimes it is bigger, sometimes it is smaller. But, in order to move on, the bride will want to see it.

As someone who has struggled with my weight and has difficulty finding things that fit properly, it’s a little annoying that they’re framing her as picky. When nothing fits you, of course you’re going to be specific, because you have to be painfully hyperaware of what actually does fit. If all you’re pulling is stuff that’s 4 sizes too small, take a different approach. The consultant needs to be able to steer her into that mindset. I’d be livid if this was my experience as a bride. You can tell she settled, because she just wanted the torture to end. Nobody should feel like that looking for a dress.

Many of us have been there - you have one body type and style that doesn't match, or you daydream about dresses you see in the magazines on people who have entirely opposite body type only to be disappointed once you try it on your body, just like this bride. Very few people have realistic perception regarding their own body and even fewer knows what really suits them. This bride needs support - she is not big girl, she is petite she just have body type that doesn't suit column style - it's for tall, very lean body type. Support means structure that will give you bust lift and control, tummy control and some waist definition (not emphasize - definition). Once shape wear and structured construction of the item gives you shape and control over that shape with good support of your curves, you can play with overlay in dainty lace i.e. or chiffon in order to create the boho effect that you desire.

I'm a big woman and i hate shopping especially for dresses. I never feel good in any of them. When i was engaged the thought of dress shopping made me so nauseous. In the end i never got married or even tried on a dress. Its such a downer to walk in a place and they don't carry your size. Sometimes you even get snide remarks of try Walmart to this diet worked for me maybe u should try it then come back. One thing that always irks me is when people say "flattering", "slimming", or in this case "slenderizing" (what the heck is that last one? haha). It is always a subtle reminder that in the eyes of most people, slimness=beauty and fatness=ugly.
