Bride Rameneh is planning a big Persian wedding and is looking for the perfect wedding dress. She has to decide whether or not she is going to choose her mother's old dress that her father has chosen. Kelly turns the old dress into a unique masterpiece, but Rameneh might prefer a more classic choice in the end.

My mother kept her gorgeous dress until after my first of us 4 daughters got married. My 1st sister was 5 ft tall like mom. I was asking mom for her dress to see what I could do with it..she had cut it up into pieces with 3 daughters left. Her only explanation was the rest of us were taller so she figured we'd not want it. It was from the 50s. I was sad to not have a chance at it. I suspect my 1st sister said something about not wanting an old dress that upset her. Sad.

@@joywebster2678 my mom had her wedding dress in a preservation box all my life with only the tiniest window to see a small square of it. My sisters and I were always fascinated to know what it looked like because there were hardly any pictures from our parents wedding. My one sister and I got married within 5 months of each other and our mom finally opened the box to reveal her wedding dress. We both tried it on, but it wasn't our style. After the chaoss of both weddings, I asked to see the dress again and my mom informed me that since my sister and I didn't want it she donated it to a thrift store! I was so upset. She's not sentimental at all, but I am! All I can think of is someone probably bought it to be a Halloween costume and it's been long thrown away. All of those years of waiting to see it, getting one night to see it, and that's it. So sad 💔

You know, ever since this show came out all those years ago, I've wondered - what happened to the borrowed dress when the bride didn't choose it? The new dress just went back to the store, I'm sure, but the old one... did it go back home with mom, or did they keep it and sell it to fund the show?

I remember reading from the bride that she was still able to keep mom’s dress without having to pay for it because the alterations were a lot more expensive than what they originally said and she ended up wearing both dresses for her wedding!!

I've watched a lot of these shows and seen countless dresses.. and I don't think I've ever seen a more gorgeous one than the remade dress. That skirt was absolutely stunningly perfect and the top matched as well.

The family is this one is so absolutely sweet! The only thing that bothers me about something borrowed/something new, is not only the pressure on the kid to chose their parents dress in a way, but also that the old dress gets chopped up and remade into a different one. As long as the parents know that going into things (not sure if it's told them or no?) it's so fun!

My mother had a glorious wedding dress in 1955 with beautiful panels of hand made French Alencon lace on it. I did not remaje her dress, but ny dressmaker removed all the lace and reembroidered it on to my custom made choice. She then added even more crystals and pearls. I did not wear a veil, but wore my mothers Juliet headpiece which had been redone with more crystals and pearls.

I don't usually support the remade dresses on this show, not because they aren't nice, but because they seem a little contrived at times. However, THIS beat the new one hands down! I have a feeling she will someday regret her choice. Being unique, for my wedding, and having something that NO other bride would have, would have been my priority. ESPECIALLY when the remade dress looked like that on her! Of course, she would have looked good with a burlap bag on, she is that gorgeous. I LOVE her parents and her friend! They were so supportive, even though they wished for the other dress. GREAT people to have as your support group!

Both dresses were beautiful but if the bride didn't want to be outshone on her wedding day then she should wear her mums dress but the remodelled version .She did say she wanted a ball gown and that dress was wow and given that her mums lace was in it I would say it one a one off .The other dress anyone could wear ? and chances are one of her guests would wear a similar dress but different colour ?

I knew she was going to choose new. She chose wrong. That borrowed dress revamped was so unique and so beautiful. Given the toss up between the two one would think she would have gone the sentimental path. Just because she wants elegance and her husband to think she looks elegant seems so materialistic. The truth is the borrowed dress is much much prettier. Its is a statement piece. The fact that they deconstructed it for her is another reason she should go borrowed . In fact if it had been me, I never even would have looked at another dress.

As far as I’m concerned she made a BIG mistake. Yes the “new” dress was beautiful and had expensive bling but it wasn’t one of a kind and any other bride could have and wear it. It was very ordinary. Now the “borrowed” dress was totally one of a kind with all the elements of nostalgia from her mother plus the advantage that NO OTHER bride would have that dress. It looked so unique and spellbinding. We’ll maybe I’m the only person who really wants something no one else will ever have.

Seems like the Episodes I’ve watched the bride usually chooses the new dress. I would have a difficult time having my mothers or grandmothers wedding dress destroyed only to choose another dress. Guess I’m just too sentimental to ever be on the show and now married too long.

I much prefer the other versions of Say Yes to the Dress. In this version, the original dresses get destroyed, but might not even get chosen; in the meantime most brides feel bad about disappointing the parents if they don't pick the reconstructed dress, even if it bears no ressemblance to the mother's now destroyed gown. Someone is almost bound to be disappointed. In my opinion, brides need to pick what they like. If they love their mother's gown as is or with minor changes, fantastic; if not, leave the mother's gown alone. By the time a granddaughter is ready to marry, maybe the gown will be fashionable retro instead of just unfashionable.

I felt like the new dress was a dime a dozen, I've seen that style on many brides, and had an icy quality to it (which she called formal). The borrowed one was a one of a kind and so timeless, romantic but no less regal.

I don’t know why she can’t wear both? In our weddings, we wear at least 3 dresses. One for the wedding ceremony which is the white dress, another for cutting the cake, one cultural one to greet guests and another of the grooms’ culture if you marry someone from a different culture to dance in. We would wear 3-4 dresses.

She is such a pretty girl so she can't really go wrong. But the remade 2nd dress was sooooooo stunning! It was a jaw dropper ! I'm a little bummed she chose the 3rd one. It was pretty but similar to so many other ones. Her beauty will shine through though. Her hair is to die for! Her husband is so lucky to have her. She seems very sweet too.

If she wanted to outshine her guests, she should've gone with the borrowed/remade dress.... it was a statement piece & so unique! I'm not usually one for all those frilly, poufy skirts on wedding dresses, but what they did with the lace of her mother's old dress, was STUNNING & she DEFINITLY would've stood out at her wedding! The new dress? Yea, its new, but its "nothing new" in regards to wedding dress designs... I don't think anyone is going to end up fawning over the dress she chose, because there was nothing special or stand out about it...

The repurposed dress was fun and unique. The new one was like every other dress out there. I would 100% have chosen the repurposed dress. It was beautiful and so was the bride.
