No, Mom. Choosing the dress is not all about the dress - it's all about the bride. And it is DEFINITELY NOT about you. This bride has made it absolutely clear that dress #1 is her choice. You don't have to say that you love the dress, but the way that you voice your opinions is so mean & demeaning.

Looking back on old photos of myself, which I rarely do, I was a very attractive young woman with a great figure. My mother smashed my self-confidence about my appearance whenever she could, and I took it to heart just like this gorgeous bride has done. Mom, the dress isn't important, your relationship with your daughter is, so don't be an idiot. It's a narcissistic trait when mothers try to live their lives through their daughters. Being a daughter of a narcissist, you can never be good enough. This bride-to-be was clearly devasted and the mother was utterly indifferent to her feelings. It made my skin crawl. I hope this young woman will one day be able to lay down boundaries because she's going to need to. Her sister will be her ally and I'm sure her future husband will be too.
