I am American. I can not even imagine living in a country where tradition dictates who one must marry and when that marriage will take place. Where no weight whatsoever is given if the persons trying to be forced into an arranged marriage have already formed an attraction to and a relationship with a person other than who the arranged partner is to be. 😮 This tradition plays a big role in this series because Esma herself was raised in a home where her marriage was arranged by her parents and no regard was given to the fact that she deeply loved another 😢 Her heart has been shattered ever since and rather than break free, she surrendered and became herself a parent deeply in favor of these old and growing obsolete tradions. This culture is interesting but I am so grateful, cok, cok, that this is NOT the culture I grew up in.
