Cruel to do this to an Aunt who graciously offered to pay for the dress and the bride and Aunt had agreed on a budget. How do you think the Aunt really feels when the bride is essentially spitting in her face and saying that her gift is not enough? I understand it is the bride's day, but jeez, this was just so unthoughtful on her part. The bride should of at least consulted with the Aunt before she tried it on out of respect to the Aunt. It seems as if her entourage liked the first dress she had on and it was in budget. I worked in suit sales, we were taught if you could get someone to actually try on the suit, the sale was nearly a done deal. The consultants know this. The consultant should have done more to dissuade her from trying on the gown to begin with or warn her that it may alter her opinion on the other dresses she can afford..

I would be interested to see a psychological study on brides with overbudget dresses. I have a feeling, after watching these shows and just thinking about how humans tend to think, that knowing a dress is out of budget and in some ways out of reach only makes it more enticing, tempting, and more likely to cause emotion when tried on. I think this might be one of the reasons why so many brides that are tempted to look at and try on over budget dresses somehow end up "falling in love" with these dresses even when they aren't more beautiful or fitting than the ones within their budget. In fact, sometimes the more affordable dresses look better, or one could easily be found that is within budget that would surprise the bride. It feels like there is just something so tempting and emotional to many people about knowing a dress is out of your price range or too expensive for you that makes it seem automatically more luxurious, appealing, and tragic due to being out of reach. This would be a really interesting thing to have studied with placebos and everything--dresses that are told to the brides are "out of budget" when they are the same price as other dresses, and see how the brides reacts to these dresses.

Wedding dresses are the biggest waste of money ever
@RichardPennettiАй бұрын
Let’s not forget: alterations, the veil, shoes, etc. before you know it, this whole package will be around $6,000. It was good the aunt didn’t budge. Let the bride and/or her mother pay the difference. I could never have my sister pay for my daughter’s wedding gown. Now, if the aunt was a multi mill, that’s different. But, it wasn’t the case.

I find it hard to believe there wouldn't have been a dress in a similar style that's closer to the budget. It may have not been as detailed, but that dress was completely different from the other 2 she tried on
@thehungrygoldfish2 ай бұрын
You’d think but I’ve seen consultants try that before and the bride almost always hates the “ similar dresses” They want the exact same dress by the exact same designer.

Sure, it's over budget, but you have to admit - it was the most flattering.

So nice (read: disappointing) to hear Randy keep talking about how this sample dress is not a sample size, it’s a size, “Twenty-TWO,” then say again, “It’s a size 22, so it’s HUGE.” Nice way to treat all your people who do fit in plus-sized dresses.

I would not feel comfortable letting my family help that much. That money could go towards other wedding expenses.

Wow...this is just absolutely amazing. Time and time again we see people demanding dresses outside of their budget and then throw fits to get it from the person paying. This woman comes in, tries on the overbudget dress, sees herself in it and tears up knowing that it's her dress but it's overbudget and she can't get it. She tells her family, including the aunt paying, that she would settle for the lesser dress because of the budget. She doesn't even make a case for her aunt/family to pay for the dress. An absolutely refreshing moment in a sea of entitled brats who demand others cater to them, but this girl is willing to say she'll take the dress she liked but didn't love over the dress she loved. And these comments are all over her for it? I, for one, applaud her for being grateful for waht she was offered.

I don’t think the bride was being sincere when she said she would settles for the less expensive dress. I think her face was communicating “please help me get the more expensive dress”. I may be jaded but I’ve seen manipulative people pretending to be humble and that is the vibe I was picking up with this bride.

@@RPhillip Maybe. Or maybe she fooled you. We can’t know for sure. I’m old and I’ve observed manipulative women all my life. It can look very subtle. That doesn’t mean I’m right. You are most welcome to disagree. Saying I’m projecting wasn’t the nicest way to do that.

@kathyestes6577 Well, then don't be protecting your issues onto others and you won't get called out on it. The only "evidence" to support your claim is your "experiences" with women. Something you don't have a monopoly on.

The Aunt should back out of buying her a dress.

My mom chose to pay for my sister's wedding dress, and my wedding dress, as her gift to us....thus, I decided I wouldn't even LOOK at dresses over $1000...my personal budget was UNDER $1000....I found a drop dead gorgeous dress for under $800. There was NO WAY I was going to even present a dress that was over $1000 to my mom and expect her to pay for it. That would have made me sick.

That One Bride that was into the Maggie dress they were all talking about that. She tried on all kinds of dresses. She doesn’t look excited on any of the wedding gowns. She just doesn’t have that glow that most of the brides have even just try them on different ones you don’t get a big response from her. Does she really want to get married? It’s what I’m thinking. I hope the best for her. 🙏🌹🥰🐾🌹🙏
@bearded_laady24 күн бұрын
To those bothered by aunt’s budget, the mom made te decision to pay any difference. And you don’t know their situation maybe the bride has had a hard life and maybe she’s an amazing selfless person that’s why the aunts are so happy for her and want to see her happy.
