The “fight for the dress” wasn’t the mother being a jerk. It was “let’s make sure that the £2000 dress is absolutely the right one, and not in a week having her change her mind.” It’s a lot of money, and you do it once, so you want to make sure the dress is THE DRESS! I have a problem with impulse buying, especially when I’m around people whose opinions I value. If mom really wanted her daughter to be sure she likes it, considering that she's supposedly that outspoken, mom should only be asking if she's sure about her choice, and not faulting her daughter for not fighting for her choice. I hope they tried on more dresses than the 2 they showed us. She only tried on one other dress and immediately picked that one? Theres so many dresses! I can see why the Mum was pushing her to try on more lol

The bride is so beautiful and gorgeous on both dresess, but i do agree with the mom that the top part on 2nd dress doesn't give justice to her beauty and figure.
@joralemonvirgincreche2 жыл бұрын
She's too small busted for it. She needed to try on more dresses and find one that fit her bosom better. She has a lovely figure but the dress didn't fit well in the bust area.

@@joralemonvirgincreche But that dress was a sample size. The alterations will be made to her actual dress to make the size of the bodice fit her torso/breast area perfectly.

Mother of the groom looks so sad, and it doesn’t seem to be about the bride. Indeed, I suspect that she may actually be a good mother in law. (Retired jury consultant here, used to get paid to ‘read’ people!) I want to know her story.

I think the bride is marrying so young only so that she can run away from her mother as soon as possible.

I don’t think the mother was particularly mean. She has been asked an opinion and she gave it although she didn’t love it she didn’t say she hated it.

The bride told the Consultant that she wanted "traditional and glitzy". Her mother then picks out a dress for her, that was NOT traditional and NOT glitzy. Mother: "The day that I have to hand her over to Calum...." - the bride is a grown woman, but it sounds like her mother thinks she is her possession to give.

You know moms….you can always want the best for your daughter, but you don’t have to do it with bullying and forcing your opinions, likes or dislikes on her. Respect your daughters decision and her likes and dislikes.
@survivedandthriving2 жыл бұрын
I would caution against assuming that every mom actually wants what is best for their daughters, and I'm not even remotely convinced that this one does. Too many mothers are more interested in sabotaging their daughters for a variety of reasons: to gain narcissistic supply, to keep control over their child, to ensure the daughter stays 'less than' the mother, to ensure daughter knows her place, to ensure daughter cannot be fully happy, to ensure daughter remains reliant on mother, to ensure mother has someone to project her own insecurities onto, to live something out through the daughter, to just be nasty for the sake of being nasty, etc., etc. Often it is a disgusting, toxic mix of many of the motivations combined. It is enabling of abusers to start with the idea that they 'want what is best' for the victims of their abuse. Abusers only want what is best for themselves. Others' needs and wants only come into it in order to provide knowledge and ammo for the abusers to better hone their abuse.

It wasn’t HER pick, that’s what was wrong🙄 Moms paying for the dress, not wearing it. She should let the bride choose

I like the first dress for her. It is simple so she wants more sparkle than can be done with a sparkly belt or a sparkly adornment.

Those of us who grew up in abusive homes often have difficulty expressing how we feel, especially to our main abusers. To me, the fact that the daughter stood up to the mother at all made it seem like she was responding very strongly indeed. I am guessing that that took a great deal of courage for the daughter to do. To me, the fact that she stood up to this mama at all clearly showed that the daughter really liked and wanted that dress.

The consultant was pushing her way too much even though she said she’d like to try a different dress. Just let her try a different one and if she wants to, she can still go back to that dress 🤷🏻♀️
@LouiseEirwen3 ай бұрын
Its times like this when the bride has very different taste than the mother that I swear either consultants, the friends, or the bride need to remind mothers who is wearing the dress on that day and so its important that it being in the brides taste regardless of who is paying for it. Though I've heard parents complain "but I have to look at them in it" this is why its best to buy the dress yourself, or have the funds to even if the parents offer to buy it. That way if they complain they are buying it or that they have to look at you then you say something long the lines of "well there is a solution to that, you wouldn't have to look at me if you're not there" and be dead serious that if they prefer their own style over what you prefer then they aren't invited. Yes it could cause drama but it can also let them know you're very serious about it.
