From their webpage: Through their years of wandering, they were able to pick up a rich catalog of songs passed through the traveling / busking community. In 2012, their mutual best friend and lead singer of folk-punk band Profane Sass, passed away when he fell off a train in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In a way the Bridge City Sinners are a homage to keep his spirit alive and continue passing along the music they all sang together on the streets, hidden in trains, and in living rooms across the continent. They formed the Bridge City Sinners in the Winter of 2016.

i lost my best friend. he woulda loved this song. i heard it when weird circumstances led me to a bar we drank at a few times. I had a tall beer that we both woulda prolly ordered and this specific version of your song came out on the tv and it caught me. i thought id never find it, i looked for it using some lyrics and didn't find it that night. i just found it today about 4 days later. i'm so happy i found it. it has few things that remind me of him. that rustic good vibe. talking about hearing that news and falling to my knees. and most of all he always called me "brother" everytime we hung " tell me about it brother" "brother" this "brother" that..so when i heard "brother brother brother you are not alone" i felt like it was him telling me that from heaven. thank you so much for this song to both the artist and to bridge city sessions for playing it. I know I'm a few years late to the comment party here but I hope this reaches you Sinners. I've been following you for years, seen you countless times in Ol' SLC but this last show was different. This song was different. It was so different because it was the first time I'd heard it live since my father took his own life and it just hit me in a different way without you even striking the first note. I say that because of your intro to that song, having everyone hug. There was a special little creature that accepted my hug an I hers but I wasnt hugging that person. I was hugging my father. I was apologizing and saying the goodbye that I never got to give to him. I hope from here on out, you never EVER play that song again without having everyone hug first. It makes that song so much more powerful in the way it deserves. I adore you Sinners, Most Love

@cleech749 ай бұрын
That happened to me, as well. Found about them during the 2019-20 pandemic, and have still not seen them play live. They’re still on my list. It’s not just because they’re strange & different (to a lot of normal folks, not myself), but because there’s a lot going on with them, musically. A mishmash of a few different throwback themes & cultures, including goth, pirates, vaudevillian bawdiness, bluegrass, gypsies, punk-folk, outlaws, etc., and it gives them different directions to go with their material, and live performances. I like that they can’t easily be described to someone, if I was asked to do so.
@CorvusSix9 ай бұрын
@@cleech74I have always gravitated towards the more eclectic music styles out there. To this day my all time favorite album, that I listen to almost weekly, the self titled first Mr. Bungle album. I love every track on that album. Why? Because the musical arrangements are absolute genius. Throw in Mike Patton's vocal range and it is just something worth experiencing. I have friends that hate that album and think it is garbage. But it is a work of genius to get all of those sound bites, the music, the vocals. the spoken word, all to work together. I still wish we would get a true follow up to that album. Love the other albums they have done, but damn that first album was incredible.
@cleech749 ай бұрын
@@CorvusSix I was a teenager when Faith No More released The Real Thing. Probably Mtv playing the crap out if the video for Epic helped give Mike Patton some exposure to a larger audience. I bought that album on cassette, and listened to it a lot. Then Angel Dust came out, and we got more material from the man with 1000 voices. As I got older, I really fell in love with that album, and when given the choice now, I reach for that one. I know about Mr Bungle, but I don’t think I’ve ever given it a full listen. Well, that changes today. Gonna give it a listen with a fresh set of 49yr old ears, and see what I’ve been missing out on. For me, it’s fun to do that. Mix things up, and surprise yourself with something that’s old, but new to you. Maybe I’ll dig it, maybe not, but that’s the fun of it!🙂
@CorvusSix9 ай бұрын
@@cleech74I just turned 50 this year. My advice for listening to that first Mr. Bungle album. Give yourself a block of time to listen to it uninterrupted from beginning to end. My personal favorite track is Carousel. But every track is just awesome. I crank up that album at work in my office. I enjoy watching my coworkers walk past with a total WTF? Look. Just be warned, this album isn't kid friendly with some of the lyrics.
