Bridge IV - Stormlight Archive - Cosmere Animated Series

My name is Mateusz Feliks (CGIMati), and I am a huge fan of the Cosmere universe created by Brandon Sanderson. This short is inspired by the Stormlight Archive books. I worked alone on this project. All you see is the work of one guy (not counting the music and sound design).
I decided to create some short animated films in Cosmere. I hope, you will like it :D
The project is 100% fan-made (this is not an official video) for free in my free time.

​@@genericname6167 I'm going through the book again and it said no less than 25 with a full team being 40. Also there should be people actually under the bridge. Kaladin described grooves for shoulders and a grill to look through in the front position

This is fantastic and brutal. I have always preferred the idea of a SA adaptation being live action, but if it were animated similarly to this I would be all for it!

Weird, I've always considered animation as a no-brainer for Stormlight. It's just not practical in live action unless you ger an enormous budget.

I like how how you did Syl. This is the thing I worry about the most for a potential SA adaptation - the spren could make the world look terribly awkward if not done right. But yours feel right somehow.

I just realized how Kaladin always survived the hail of arrows from the Parshendi. Dude was using his Windrunner abilities unconcoiously.

Yup. This is heavily implied. On one of the runs he yells “Tien” in desperation sees that the Parshendi seem surprised by what is happening. He used Reverse Lashing to make the bridge attract the arrows.

its heavily implied in the way of kings that that's exactly what was happening. kal was infusing the bridge with light causing the arrows to be attracted to it and thus avoiding him. he just didn't realize he was doing it. it's even mentioned I think that Kaladin would return from bridge runs and find all his spheres would be dun despite just being recently infused.

Oh storms this is amazing! I got chills! I've always wanted a live-action Stormlight, but you have just changed my mind. A CGI film would look awesome too. I was so disappointed to see this end, I kept waiting for more haha. If an unofficial fan vid made me feel this hyped up, imagine what would the official trailer do, no matter the medium. This was great! Personally though, I always pictured smaller bridges, with the bridgemen much more closely packed, since they have to be able to side-carry the bridge. This felt like a weird amalgamation of Sadeas' bridges combined with the Kholin bridges.

This is amazing! The one criticism I have is that the bridge crew seems to be walking quite slowly, compared to them sprinting/running as fast as they could in the book. But that’s rather minor compared to the overall quality of the animation

This is awesome, small problem though. The runners were protected by the top of the bridge and in a tighter formation underneath. The particulars of this are relevant from a story perspective because the front it's what determined the Hierarchy of command and seniority during runs. It's what makes Kal running in front so significant. As you have it this formation offers very little protection for anyone when approaching a chasm. This loose a formation would allow archers to pick off individuals and possibly hit the entire formation with a single salvo, providing little benefit to running in the rear. If you run another animation get them up under the bridge and see if you can simulate the claustrophobia of running at a wall of arrows without being able to see them coming, just your fellow bridgemen dying next to you.
