2:40 and 2:45 i love the detail that Toph is holding on to Aang who guides her, because the floor is wood and Toph can't use her seismic earthbending skill to "see", so she's actually blind in the village. But on sunsequent days she moves around more freely bacause she learned the layout of the bridges.

I think in the desert she just would've fallen, but here, this is a dock, if she made a wrong step she would've been in the water drowning. I feel like she can "see", but as it was in the desert, what she sees isn't that clear.

When she stumbled over the sand sailer, the force of the impact created many vibrations which she could feel more clearly in the sand so she could recognize it as a sand sailer.

I used to hate The Painted Lady because of how out of character Sokka feels and the victim blamey messaging. But now while it’s still my least favorite episode, there’s stuff to appreciate and I agree that its pretty underrated. I do love the Aang and Katara scenes, for one.

@@tariqthomas9090 I honestly didn’t like it much the first couple times, but it grew on me, and I completely understand why this episode isn’t just a filler. Sure we’ve seen Katara like this, we know she cares, but this is the fire nation, it’s important for not only Katara Sokka and Toph to see that there are good people in the fire nation, (Aang already knows this, but it’s still good to see) but it’s important for the fire nation people to see there are good people outside the fire nation, and the Avatar is good. Plus come on, the part where they trick the fire benders, and Appa as a sound effect 😂

around 29:24 is where the episode gets to me because you really see just how YOUNG Sokka is. We have to remember that Sokka is just 16 and even though he's the oldest in the Gaang and looked up to as a decision-maker/leader, he's still just a kid. When he's standing and talking to Master Piandao, you can really see how small he is and you instantly remember he's just a kid who needed some guidance 🤍 This episode really solidified why and how Sokka is a crucial member of the Gaang and even more so, it gives him such a boost of confidence that he needed. I loved these two episodes so much!

Buff Iroh is always a fun reveal lol. Though I do always wonder about the technical aspects of taking some random metal that fell from space and knowing what temps it needed to be worked at in order to be forged into a sword and how durable it would be lol. But Sokka getting some love and focus for feeling inadequate compared to other benders is a nice touch. I don't remember if it's been really pointed out in this show, directly, but it's definitely hinted at. Benders are actually the minority compared to non-benders. It's something like only 1/3 of people can do bending. Naturally they're the ones that tend to get into positions of power and join the fighting forces of their nation so we see them a lot. But remember Sokka and Katara leaving their village and no one else in the village could bend. Not even their father and his group of warriors that he left with could bend. So Sokka feeling left out despite actually being in the majority for the population as a whole is nice to see get explored. I mean, the fact that he can stand by the Avatar, and Waterbending and Earth/metal bending masters in a fight is a great testament to his combat prowess despite not being a bender. Yet it was still a struggle for him.

The Painted Lady is one of my favorites of the whole series. As for Sokka's Master, Piandao, was voice by none other that the T-1000 from T2, Robert Patrick. Found out by looking up the name. One of the production team's name sounds like "Dao". They were a bit upset with the name Piandao as it sounds like "P on Dao". To make it up to them another character name was put in the show by writer Tim Hedrick later on. Keep an ear out for Pu-on Tim. Bathroom jokes! lol

They dont really out right say it in the show, but just because you are born in a nation, doesnt mean you are born with the ability to bend that element. Most people asking to train in the sword probably arent benders anyways. Thats why firebending in the making of the sword isn't required. I'm pretty sure that bit about him wearing the massive and overly extreme armor was in response to stuff like fanfiction. Hang getting that armor and doing everything he said, sounds exactly like something you'd read in a fanfic about this show 😂😅

I think my favorite episode before the finale is coming up next. Also it's a real shame the Netflix adaptation went so horribly. They wanted to add stuff and make their own Game of Thrones and they easily could have done that if they took the time to build things up. Still I wouldn't be mad if they decided to make Berserk their next attempt at the next GoT.
