Fantastic to see this footage and thanks so much for sharing it. I was at this race - my first one as an "adult" (Dad let me go with friends) and what do we happen upon but the Chaparral 2E's first race.Let me tell you, when they took the tarp off that trailer we all just sorta stood there - nobody really knew we were seeing a revolution in racing. Unfortunately, that revolution ended up making racing a real bore with all the cars looking the same in a search for more downforce through ground effect...but it was great while it lasted.

thanks for sharing your video enjoy watching the races from when I was in my teens Bridgehampton is a track I love to race on in GPL with the 71 CanAms the 66s are due to be released soon !!!

One thing common then but unheard of now was that there was no on-track building for the cars to overnight so they were all at car dealerships, gas stations and other places in Bridgehampton, and we saw the whole Mecom team at a gas station - they used a Paxton supercharged Ford 289 in at least one car. Some of the cars were driven - yes, driven - from the track to the palce of storage and back.
