Totally agree! Shes brash, judgemental, and a bit overbearing, but god damnit she is ALWAYS there for her girls. She helped marina through being pregnant w/o a husband, she saved her family from destitution, she have decent advice, she wasnt going to force pen to marry, her married daughters were at her house more than their own, and she unquestionably supported pen after she found out she was LW. Shes a real mom.

I think in the last season they showed the parallels between Eloise and Penelope, in the sense that Eloise is some much more lucky. She has brothers, that can take over the family, she doesn't have a father who gambled away all the money, she doesn't have to mary for safety or economic reasons, she has a brother who actively supports her ideas(Benedict), another supportive brother, his wife and their mother who don't push her into marriage for prestige sake, she's allowed to read whatever she wants, say whatever she feels. And this season they show more of the parallels between the mothers. Violet got pissed at Portia about the Marina situation, but she didn't have a husband that owed a debt and therefore was put in this situation, where she had to do anything it takes, otherwise her own daughter and the whole family would face ruin. And you can see it so clearly in the way that Violet believes in love and wants all her children to marry for love, because they have the ability to look as long as they need for that. Even if none of the bridgerton girls marry, their brothers will take care of them, and the featheringtons don't have that luxury. I've heard it said that bridgertons live in a romance novel and the featheringtons live in reality, and that is so true.

Featheringtons and the rest of the ton still live in a fantasy, just a less perfect one. But this season def showed that difference, including comparing Eloise to Cressida too

@@LisaFevral Yeah, that's true. I think the situation with Cressida shows how bad of a friend Eloise is. Penelope would sneak out at every ball but Eloise somehow didn't notice? Even Colin says that after rereading hee letters, he could see that she writes like whistledown, so surely Eloise would have been able to clock something if she just payed attention. She definitely should have seen it coming, that Cressida would announce herself as whistledown. Which makes the way they all treated her at the end so much worse. Like, girl, Cressida was in a horrible situation, desperate. But Eloise didn't care, because she was, yet again, selfish and trying to make decisions for how and when Penelope should tell Colin. I hope she does acknowledge that in the next season and does a lot of growth in her own.

Good video! I totally agree with what you say about people's relationships with other people's beauty and with beauty standards in general. Nicola is gorgeous and it is good to see a male character completely head over heels arroused by both her beauty and her soul. So satisfying. I am obsessed in love with season 3. It is not healthy. Colin trying to flirt with Penelope before she snaps at him REALLY gave me the vibes of him having figured out that he's kinda hot, and having spent his entire journey getting his ego inflated by flirtationships. You can absolutely see it by how he openly states "im not looking for a wife" and then proceeds to have the time of his life flirting with girls. It came across as if he wanted to see her swoon for him, too, because she usually always gave that reaction and he just got used to it. His genuine surprise when the ONE person he'd always been able to fluster doesn't fall for his high ego act is so funny

It was considered beautiful to be plump during the regency era so anyone commenting about Nicola’s weight has no idea of history nor did they read the books. NGL, didn't pay attention to the babies until you pointed it out 38:00 But yeah. The girls are clearly at least 6 months older than the boy. He is slightly smaller in everyway, doesn't have any hair, and his facial features are less defined. Whereas you can see that the other two babies have more hair, larger eyes, and one even has teeth. And their arms are clearly bigger. That's kind of impressive that they cared enough to do that

Right? For me, it was not liking Daphne, then Anthony, and now sadly even Colin. The Bridgerton’s love interest in general are always far more interesting than the Bridgertons themselves, even though funnily enough, they are the titular characters. I could say that it is because the love interests are less privileged than the Bridgertons, but that doesn’t even apply to Simon, who is the Duke. Perhaps their motivations and their actions are more interesting than the motivations of the Bridgertons

He’s cute for sure, but nothing intrigues me about him. His love interest on the other hand, Sophie, a working class woman in the books, was a far more interesting character, I can’t wait to see her story unfold on screen.

I hated that “I hope I was okay for you.” 31:07 I heard another KZbinr comment that I think agree with her that having Cressida come forward made it a bit easier for Penelope to. Because Cressida lied, everyone including Penelope realized the value of Lady Whistledown. I think it allowed people to be a more (we’ll see in future season) open to Penelope when she came forward. Ooh, I got so mad at Chris Van Dusen standing ten toes down and saying it was colour conscious when BLACK PEOPLE gave him the benefit of the doubt by saying the casting may have been colour blind casting. Like my dude, we were giving you a way out and you got offended about us even implying that you didn’t make a dumb decision by casting black people in roles that make them play into stereotype? Like playing into the tragic mulatto stereotype with Marina and the magical black person stereotype with Lady Danbury isn’t the flex you think it is babe! 1:47 one of the main reasons Penelope is also not favored, besides the fact that she may be larger then her sisters or other society girls, is also the fact that she is a "blue stocking". I don't think it's ever really made clear in the show that literally just reading 📖 books as a woman will make you less attractive to marry..... So lady featherington is not just being annoying. The stuff she tells Penelope is exactly, bluntly what is fashionable in a wife.

🎉According to my calculations, Prudence and Phillipa got pregnant only few weeks before Pen did. The time is broken in Bridgerton universe and having them morning sickness so fast is definitely comedy gimick... But yeah. If we assume that both got pregnant after Full-Moon Ball, or shortly earlier, you have week of Pen in her room, week of her courting Debling, with her and Colin possibly conceiving afterwards. My calculations for the earliest conception of baby boy ranged between 12-24 days after his cousins. Hope that helps! 😌 I feel kinda mad, not gonna lie 😅

I love how your breaking down the true impossibility of Bridgerton and how present capitalism works in society and how insane it is. I had no idea what I was about to watch going into this video and loved every single point and turn in conversation you made especially regarding social issues! Totally agree especially on the fantastical elements of the show. It is a vaguely regency-inspired fantasy romance. It doesn't need to try to justify race inclusion. This is not a time or place based in real history and honestly they arent good at handling race issues either. It should have just stated, since this is a fantasy why the heck not have diversity and left it at that. All of the babies are almost the same age because Pen got pregnant on her first time with Colin which was only a few weeks after her sisters' got pregnant.

Love your look and your breakdown. Sorry for the incoming essay. Honestly after 3 seasons of bridgerton I just accepted that it's a silly enjoyable stupid show with a lot of flaws that gets one thing really right every season and that is family relationships. I think they nail those dynamics every season and they are way more engaging than any of the love stories imo. In regards to everything else I just accepted that it's going to be ridiculous and overly dramatic for no reason. That's what the show runners have decided for this show at this point. I wish the show wasn't so much like that but I think it always will be which is sad but it is what it is. So I am not mad about it. That being said I still wish they would put a bit more thought into their writing and stop writing dramatic scenes first and the plot later. This is something that they tend to do in the finales and I general in the last 3 episodes. Season 2 had the same issue with the whole Edwina and Kate and Anthony marriage plot thing. This season it was the whole lady whistledown drama thing. It would also be nice if they would be a bit more thoughtful about the politics of it all. In terms of side plots crowding the show with Benedicts story was also such a strange choice tbh. They should have cut that. The other side plots didn't really bother me but they could have been more connected and maybe a bit more restricted plus give us more kanthony the actors have such enjoyable chemistry..... Not giving Francesca her own season was also a little odd but that didn't bother me too much. The best part of the season were all the mother daughter plots especially Penelope and her mother that was my favorite part. I still liked the season overall it was a fun watch. But I have given up on expecting anything with much sociological or philosophical substance or even a hint of it from bridgerton or even logical coherence. It just isn't that show. And I've decided to accept it as long as it gives me silly escapism and isn't too stupid.

I want to defend Colin a bit (but agree that writing was a mess). Was he envious? Yeah. Admitted it. Was be previously engaged and bamboozled? Yes. Is the "entrapment" line absolute brutality? Yes. But he was hurt and unsure. He knows she was willing to marry without love. He can think back in his mind that he was only her safe raft and she does not actually care about him, if she lied about something like this. Even if we excuse each of Pen's decision, and I did so in past two years, it still endagers not only them, but his entire family. When El tells Colin that she was fine after the Queen accused her, he looks very relieved. Maybe it is because I am foreigner, but I never took Colin's line in season 2 that harshly. To me, it was badly worded drunk comment. I fully believe that Colin has no idea how Pen is perceived and does not realize consequences. His reaction proves it. Not saying it is excusing it, but I truly believe that there was no malicion in it. It just does not fit him much. Cressida deserved better. Kinda get why they had to pack Debling so she has a reason to try to get the reward, but I would like for Pen to recognize in what shitty situation she was after El tells her. It would do them both so much good. Also, ngl, sofa Colin gave me a good chuckle 😅

Maybe I need to rewatch season 2 because I just don’t get the hype. The drama went on for way too long and they progressed Edwina and Anthony’s relationship way too far, to the point where I don’t understand Kate being with him. My sister is my best friend and if someone treated her the way Anthony treated Edwina, leading her on for so long while making eyes at her sister and basically saying that Kate couldn’t go far enough away to not tempt it, but also still trying convince Edwina to marry him, like I’d be turned off. I certainly wouldn’t marry someone who could disregard my sister and her feelings that way.

Its hard to get new born babies to be in tv shows and movies. Most of new born babies on television are actually premi babies that are a couple months old. And it just hard bc most shows take time with shootings and babies grow quickly so its just a bunch of factors to why the babbies might all like the same. Yes babies look different after a couple of months than newborns

9:31 idk the costuming was okay i think with some characters outfits didn't really reflect the character not saying it has to but it can make the audience more connected to the characters and sometimes it felt like the outfit was wearing the character instead of the other way around (would've been nice as well to Penelope reclaim yellow but a shade that fits her but they may do that in the later seasons like they did with Lady Danbury)
