I’m a plus size woman and I’m conflicted. There is a part of me, from the 90s, that loves that he learned he loved her by TOUCHING her body. Something he never considered desirable before, now he can’t get enough. He’s been everywhere and touched everyone. But her beautiful body is what literally lights his fire. Plus size women deserve the classic tropes. And they did right by her. She looked so sexy being kissed by him. But they could have used Lord Debling to also give her a passionate love story. Make the audience LOVE him for how much he desires her. Debling liked that she was weird and she was a great prospect. But why not drive Colin mad with touches and hungry glances. Make him pay for always over looking her. The book was pretty boring imo, so I’m not surprised this fell flat. I wish the dating lessons would have done more. Everyone anticipated this season so much. And it feels like they phoned it in. We might change our minds in part 2. But I really doubt it. Those 4 episodes would have to be AMAZING.

Thank you so much for this comment! Although I have my opinions, I absolutely appreciate hearing the viewpoint of a plus-size woman in regards to this story. What you said is why the carriage scene was effective for me, although I didn't like the lead-up to it. Same with Lord Debling! I assumed there would be a person she was actually connected with, and truly appreciated her. But the story dynamic with him didn't come together. If the book wasn't great to begin, then that makes sense. It's too bad the writers didn't make an effort to elevate the material. Thanks again for sharing your commentary with me. 🙏🙏🙏

I totally agree with you!!! I felt rushed. It was like a bad version of cliffs notes 😅 I was a but disappointed at Penelope's character this season. She got this makover but she turned into a weaker Penelope in my opinion. For someone as smart as she is, does she really believe that her dream crush had this major epiphany and will no longer be the womanizer? I dunno, we'll see what the next half holds.

Finally someone is saying out loud what I’ve felt about Season 3! It was like eating dry toast 😩 every episode got drier, they threw in so many characters and plot lines ALL AT ONCE AND SO FAST that you barely see Pen and Colin’s chemistry grow. So you don’t believe them as viewer. To date, the best seasons are Season 1, Queen Charlotte, Season 2. And Shonda needs to bring Rege!
@DMovieman4 ай бұрын
Listen! It didn't feel great saying it, but I had to be honest. 100% with you on the attempts to juggle all these unnecessary plot lines and side characters at Pen and Colin's expense. We are on the same page with the ranking of the seasons as well. It's so sad to see the series go downhill like this. I appreciate you commenting and sharing your thoughts! 🙏🙏🙏

For me this season felt sloppy. Pen and Colin’s growing relationship/ feelings felt shallow and rushed especially compared to Francesca and Lord Kilmartin who had great chemistry and this sweet slow burn awkwardness. Is it wrong that they were the couple I cared about. I liked them giving us more Cressida bc there seems to be a lot of backstory there and she’s becoming an interesting character. I’m wondering if this is going to be salvaged in the second half of the season…
@HuntingViolets4 ай бұрын
I liked them a lot too. I'm not the biggest fan of Penelope with the Lady Whistledown stuff (just an aside; I don't want to get into it), but I've kind of taken her relationship with Colin more or less on its own terms this season. I do tend to find side stories more endearing than the main ones a lot of the time, though, too. But Francesca and Lord Kilmartin are adorable and sweet, for sure.
@DMovieman4 ай бұрын
Hey, CC! I totally agree with you, and you're definitely not wrong for caring more about Francesca and Kilmartin. If anything, it makes it even more clear that Penelope and Colin's dynamic was poorly done in comparison. Right! Seeing the evolution of a character that's mostly been an antagonist is pretty interesting. I'm going to keep hope alive for Part 2, but my expectations are quite low. 🙃🙃🙃
@NuncaJamaisEmTempoAlgum4 ай бұрын
The writing in insultingly bad, the plot is absurd, their rare time alone is vapid and forced, too many characters and stories being shoved there at the same time taking away the attention of the main couple. In 4 episode, 4 hours, they have 30 minutes of airtime… There’s no groveling, no deep conversations, nothing to lead up to that absurd last scene than jealousy and ego. It’s sad, Penelope is a great character and they just ruined the show. And it won’t change because the fans are total fanatics that defend it with zero critical thinking so no matter how worse it gets they will never say they didn’t like it, they’ll accept anything.

I can't disagree with any of this. Penelope really deserved better. I wasn't expecting high art here. But even on a basic level, this season is certainly quite the fiasco. 🙃🙃🙃

17:44 I literally thought homegirl must be a secret witch, as well as a writer. 'Cus, he went from only seeing her as a friend, to seeing her in his dreams. Like, damn Sis! It felt rushed as hell and didn't feel earned. We needed so much more build up, the Danbury coaching from the books would have been cute as hell, but alas. The Polin couple got lost in the sauce of all the other subplots. There really was zero need to split the season into 2 parts.
@DMovieman2 ай бұрын
"Homegirl must be a secret witch" took me OUT!!! 😭😂😭 But I feel you, because there was nothing to explain Colin doing a 180 the way he did? Based off of what development? Yes! It would've given Lady Danbury something to do besides being annoyed with her brother. If anything, the 2-part split highlighted the flaws of the season even more.

They could easily have cut the assault in season one. Just go straight to the part where Daphne is yelling at Simon about keeping the knowledge from her (which they have right after that anyway) instead. It doesn't even change the story. You still have the estrangement and reconciliation, but we don't have to feel so icky (understatement) about it.

The problem with second season is lend heavy on triangle … the first 3 episodes r good and r telling us that Anthony and Edwina don’t work … she should said no to proposal … they both go back on the market … but Anthony is distracted by Kate and disagreements/fighting/competition happen … until something gives and they make out… obviously more happens … but this should been the first half of the season
@DMovieman4 ай бұрын
I totally agree! Everything got too bogged down into the triangle. The fact that the wedding situation even happened the way it did, (while dramatic) shows where the focus was at that point. After that, we only had two episodes to wrap up the messiness of that situation, which really didn't work.

Sir, this is all a complete fantasy and has very little historical accuracy. This is not a historic romance. This is a pure fantasy romance series mixed with comedy. Based on that, how have the writers lost the plot? Each season is a different love trope. This season is about friends to lovers. I honestly think this is the best season of Bridgerton to date.

Ma'am, this comment/explanation is very odd. Considering that I've recapped the first two seasons as well as Queen Charlotte, I'm very clear on what the dynamics of this show are. I'm not sure where I mentioned anything about this being a historic romance or having to align with history.
