I prefer this movie version to the original version. It's lowered and slower. The unaltered version is higher and brighter sounding.

Yes, seems they digitally lowered Johnny to AMaj, which makes his a "Russian" [profundo] bass. It may work for film background, but as music it's more than a little naughty :( . He sounds wonderful despite it all.

Arthur Kaletzky I think they mastered it at the wrong speed. I think Michael Fremer talks about this in one of his videos.

@@mfanelocedricngwenya5523 this is one of my favorite trumpet / flugelhorn solos of all time. You're right, the phrasing and musicality of it is just incredible.

I don't think it's Trane on sax. This may be the recording with Billy Taylor on piano, Joe Wilder on trumpet and Frank Wess on tenor made in 1980, 17 years after the Hartman-Trane album, which doesn't have this song.
