I appreciate you including heavy rain in this video. Seriously.

Personal preference is I won't run anything other than Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I've experienced that floatiness with other tires and I just don't get that ever with Michelins. Sure they're pricey, but I haven't found a tire that's got better grip or that's more precise in the handling department.

I have P4S on the Q and while great for daily driving I’ve found the R compounds to be better for roll racing and the factory Corsas to be best for twisties. I do plan to try the Michelin’s next on the Alfa once these wear down, so maybe a few months lol.
@mattjames15554 жыл бұрын
TxBoostLife that makes sense. I hadn’t factored the roll scenario into my comment as I’m not in a situation to have that much power where it’s a factor, but they’re definitely nice for the twisties! Nice, looking forward to your impressions. New to your channel but I’ll be a regular viewer and love the content!

My corsa lasted 5500 miles. You could not drive in the rain but when they were warm on a sunny day they were glued to the pavement. This is a good review of the potenza tires...I don't think I will switch to them from what you're saying.
@txboostlife4 жыл бұрын
paolopira if you drive as hard as I do on the street you’ll miss the corsas. BUT for the track, I’m sure the RE71s would out perform based on what I felt on concrete. Still need to try them on the drag strip.

Great Review Brother! Same thing with my Advan AD08r tires... also R-compound and felt real floaty also the softness of the tire really started disappearing after about a year of use, after that they would only break loose.

Not fun for such a great handling car. If I was just doing 1/4 mile I would run the R compounds all day.

Those tires might be too wide for the rear rims. They tend to diaphragm; that's what that shimmy is.

Makes a lot of sense, I believe it!

Love the QV, tires don’t seem too bad. Have you tried the Michelin pilot sport 4 S or super sport ?

I have PS4S on my Q50 and they are good but not great for traction. I brake them loose at 60-80mph so I didn’t get them on the Quad. I may be putting them on the Stelvio.

Did you check hankook rs4?

Having two different sets of tires with new on the rear and warn out on the front is going to be sketchy.

All the video is after the new tires were installed on the front.

You used 305’s on a 285 rim. You think they’d preform better on a bigger rim? I was also thinking of getting bigger rear rims. Help put the power down a little better. Don’t know how it would effect the handling of the QV tho..
@txboostlife4 жыл бұрын
I think a 305 would perform better on a wider wheel. So far it’s putting the power down well on the street but at the track they will light up off the line. These are grippy tires but the sidewalls are softer so response is delayed. Once you learn that delay you can drive them pretty hard. I’m starting to like them more and more only because I can hook on a 30 roll if they’re warmed up. I’m close to 600whp on this car.

TxBoostLife yea man you inspired me to hit up ideal race for the same tune and downpipes. So I’m going be kinda creeping on your channel and asking questions if you don’t mind lol. Keep the content coming brother

These have one of the hardest side walls, they are THE autoX tire (together with BFG tire) used by fastest drivers and cars nationwide and autoX is all about quick response to turns. The side to side could be cause you're running a tire too wide for the rim, by only a little bit but with your power you end up feeling it.

So, i drive a corolla, tons of highway miles, and also live in San Antonio. Are these good for a daily commuter vehicle? The vehicle is stock.
@txboostlife4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I have 40k miles on this one in just 7 months with no issues yet.

so many idiots on youtube with no clue about their self inflicted handling issues lol then blame tyres. If you want grip in a powerful rwd you gotta fix your rim size, diameter and offset. Ever wonder why worked supras never hooked up until someone used their brain and fixed their wheels and tyres? Wide tyres on rear are horrible in turns. Do your homework and you will smile all day long with high quality tyres.
@txboostlife2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your insight on this. I realize I was trying to improve straight line grip with a wider aspect tire and sacrificed cornering as a result. I went back with new OEM tires a few weeks after and immediately hydroplaned on the highway and totaled the car. I’ve gone with all season tires on my replacement vehicle until I can learn enough to find a high performance tire that will evacuate water and have enough traction and feedback when it doesn’t.

@@txboostlife all good. I didnt tell you earlier and I should of but if you are looking for grip you need to drop the rim diameter. Big wheels are for show only and a big marketing ploy to sell even more expensive tyres. You also need to invest in a G27 or G29 gaming wheel, install LFS and learn to drift until it becomes second nature. That way if your car ever steps out, you wont panic and youll bring the car back in line without even breaking a sweat. LFS will also allow you to play with your suspension setup and teach you the affects of how suspension tyres and tyre pressure affect handling so when you get in the real world you will have an understanding of what you need with what you have and youll be able to easily identify when people from tyre shops, mechanics and wheel shops are blowing out of their ass.

@@txboostlife I forgot to mention. I have a 1.6 Auto 2001 Protege with full pedders suspension on lowered pedders springs on 17 inch alloys with Bridgestone Potenzas. It was a car I built for my gf. A new 2021 STI was showing off behind me with his blow off valve. Anyway i pulled over let him pass then came up instantly behind him to make him want to leave me in the dust. I on the other hand knew there was a big roundabout approaching so i fell back to create some space then timed my acceleration for when he was going to try and boot it through the roundabout. I was on his ass as he entered the roundabout then slingshotted past him at double the speed he was at cause I knew that he had no idea about suspension and tyre setup and would have to brake to get round the rounda bout. The mazda I was driving must have 70hp LOL. When i flew past him he didnt want to come anywhere near me cause he was embarresed. So do your homework, learn about setup and it will go a very very long way.
