Interesting. In my country we are so much stricter. I would never put my baby in the jumper, walker or activity center. And especially would never use a baby seat. Not even a 10 minutes a day. All the physiotherapist in my country I’ve talked to are very strictly against practicing sitting. And I agree with that based on the research. It is interesting to see how it’s different in every country.

The same in Poland. The jumper, walker, etc. were used here in the past and were the cause of many malformations (at least according to the research I've read, and what's interesting - most of the research was done in USA :-) ). Sitting, as well as crawling or walking, should result from the natural developmental process, not placing the child in "helpers" that never simulate real conditions. My favorite phrase when it comes to parenting: be supportive, but most of all don't disturb! :-)

So true. And what about the baby carriers? Ergobaby and Babybjorn is so popular in America as far as I know. But it is overly expensive garbage that hurt babies. Elastic or woven wrap is much better for the first months. Baby carriers are also really good but it is necessary to follow basic rules (M position, C curved back, fabric from one knee to another, soft back and no firm neck collar).

For the nails, get an electric nail file! They have different heads for the age of baby, and don’t hurt at all. I got one for my baby, and have been using it since birth. My babe is 3 weeks now, and I use it twice a day since her nails grow so quickly. It is fast and easy to use, and I’ve not had any big issues with her scratching herself, and never put her in mittens.

The only things I used for my daughter was educational toys from Monti Kids, which is a montessori program from age 0 to 2 years old. The Montessori Method addresses your child’s cognitive, physical, linguistic, social, and emotional development. I did not use walkers, seating trainings or any other products. She started to wear shoes only when she was walking fully on her own. For her physical body, I let everything happened naturally.

100% agree. We did the same for our daughter and I feel she was free to concentrate on what she was ready to do from day to day instead of being pushed by us stressed out parents. She was standing up by month 9 and walking at month eleven, right on track. The added bonus is not buying a ton of useless baby equipment which is often at least partly made of plastic.

My family is 100% against walkers because of their experience with me, not even because of the development issue. I fell down a flight of stairs because I was in my walker and somehow knew how to open then gate to the steps (dad pulled SuperDad and literally flew down the stairs somehow past me and caught me before I landed). My bfs mom wanted to get our 6m one and I told him and her this and now she’s against it. I got lucky, but some other babies have gotten majorly injured. My dad had a bruise on the back of his shoulder for 6 years later and had to get surgery to remove it. I told this to a friend of mine with hers and she laughed and didn’t believe me till her daughter almost did the exact same thing. Walkers are never okay in my family.

Ok honest question here. My son is 3mo and I just started him facing outward in my Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier. It has straps to adjust to better support the angle of the legs, to better support the hips. My baby does not tolerate being carried facing inward, and does not tolerate being put down at all. He has been loving facing outward in the Ergobaby carrier and until I watched this video, I felt it was a God-send. Ergobaby says to face them out only when they have good head and neck control, which my baby does, and I trusted that this company cared about the ergonomic support for babies and their development. What am I missing, what am I getting wrong?

About the upseat... the best is no seat before they are ready..in my country (Czech Republic) these seats like bumbo or upseat are not common and discouraged the same way as walkers or jumpers.. the best way is to wait until the baby learns to sit on his own and not to sit him up before he and his spine is ready...

LOL everybody in the comments freaking out when there’s no reason to. My son is 7 months he’s sitting up by himself now and I hardly ever used his little chair thingy. Moms remember that being a parent doesn’t come with a handbook, it’s all ultimately up to you and baby. I know a ton of babies who used the things she’s said not too and they’re just fine! Or just don't help your baby to sit up. They will eventually sit by themselves, usually after starting to crawl. Until then, hold them on your lap with your support. That's how the body is designed to develop, with free movement. It's amazing to watch.

I agree with everything mentioned but the waking piece. Each child is different. And this can be said about my 2nd son. He was a very fussy child until he took his first steps at 7 months and was choosing to walk at 8 months. He finally had control of his environment and was content. There was no stopping that child, he particularly skipped the crawling stage.

The upseat is cruel. You try sitting with your legs spread like that for 15 minutes without being able to close them. How awful. If a baby’s spine is developed enough, they will sit up on their own. I agree with the OT on KZbin who says that babies spend far too much cumulative time in these contraptions, strollers, up seats, car seats, bouncy seats. Why don’t you try holding them?

It is generally advised- No front facing carrying ever, no sitting baby up until they can sit on their own (usually from crawling), no jumpers, no walker or other baby trapping devices, bouncers/loungers just for few minutes a day when absolutely neccesary, barefoot when possible and now the big trend of barefoot shoes.

Please can hip dysplasia be corrected in a 15 months old baby at home? Does a slouchy back in a toddler (while sitted) mean a life time slouching?

What about the sit-me-up seat by fisher price? I've been using this for my baby and Ive seen a lot of parents use this. I have done research on it and have found nothing negative about it

Great info. I definitely used a walker but like you said it was minimal useage. Mainly if I needed to have him out of my arms or just to give a few minutes of independent play time. I didn’t use it to help him learn to walk. But we still have it though because now that he’s fully walking on his own, he still loves to play with the toys on it so we still feel we got our money’s worth. 😁

What is the amount of time you recommend a day to use a jolly jumper? My 5 month old loves it! Have been using since 4 months. How early is too early? Love your videos! You really helped me with labor and delivery and beyond!

Hey I’m a new Dad and apparently doing everything wrong. My son is 4 months old and we have had him in the ergo baby carrier, facing forward for the past month. He passionately hates facing inward. Even when just being carried. He wants to see the world. There are very few places and positions that he is truly happy in and this is his absolute favorite. It’s really been a huge help to use this for walks and the one thing we can rely on when he’s fussy. My question is: Exactly how bad is this for his hip development? Is it worth sacrificing everyone’s sanity and the one thing he enjoys? Is there a safe way to carry him front facing at this age or exercises we can do with him to make up for walks facing forward?

Hi my son is the same, he wants to be carried forward so he can see the world around him. I was looking forward for him to reach 6 months and put him in the carrier forward position, but my pediatrician (we live in EU) was completely against it and said I should never use it. I hope it helps 😊

@davynavy24 A ring sling might be better...allows for proper hip placement and yet being easier for baby to see out. My now 5 mon old son has loved it (been in since newborn) and loves looking out at everything and I love that it's good for proper support. He's now 21lbs and I wore my daughter into toddlerhood so it does provide support for wearer too...

Thank you SO much for this video! I already knew all these things myself but I am so happy you’re spreading the word! All these things are pretty well known back in my home country but I feel like they’re not spoken about enough in the west (UK, US etc). If I may, I will dare to disagree with point 2. The physiotherapists back at home actually recommend not to sit your baby until they learn it on their own completely. They spine isn’t ready, they sit all curled down, can’t breathe properly and their hips suffer too. Of course, the upseat is still better than all the other seats out there, I’m just sharing what I know. I believe we all do our best for our little ones

Hi Bridget! I’ve watched a few of your videos but I need help!! . My son will be 7mo on the 9th . I’ve been cosleeping since he was born but it’s been rough lately. I want my space and sleep back.😣 I want to sleep train him in his crib in his nursery and not sure how to start. I breastfeed on demand. I know I’m supposed to put him down drowsy but not asleep but what if he cries??? I want a gentler way than the cry it out method. He’s also been taking super short naps during the day lately and going to sleep later than usual. He’s teething and also very close to crawling so i think those two play a part in that. Any advice, help or links will be super appreciated. I feel like I’m going crazy lately 😩🤣 love your videos ❤️

I agree with you but the timeline is different for each baby on point 1,2,3 Our baby start to walk by herself in between 7-8 month. I strongly agree about mittens and shoes. We never put any mitten on her hand and never put shoes before 7 month. Lightly dress her, absolutely no walker.

I have to use mittens sometimes so my baby can't pull his NG tube out, it seemed to be hindering some of his development, now ONLY put mittens on him when we're in the car or at night so he can't pull his tube out, but leave his hands out when I'm with him so we can play
