Thank you to all, who have bought us a coffee, it's really been a big help in paying for some of the repairs for the boat and helping me to invest in better gear for the channel. I am in no way, shape or form asking you to donate, the choice is entirely yours. here's the link, for those who do. Thank you 💗- www.buymeacoffee.com/TaylorAboard

Easy now... That is the most work I've ever seen him do! 👍 But you know how it can be. More of a safety concern/liability on a jobsite than help. But never give up, one can only get better and more skilled with trying new things!

I think it's great that Budget dad was there to help too. Yes Josh it's great when you have an end to where the wide beam went. News agencies very seldom finish stories, So Well done Josh, for ending the story. And finally I saw your Dad laughing and having fun. He usually looks so neutral in his expressions, nice to see him having a good time.

At 4.25, Vivien and Marilyn - well, there's a triplet, Audrey! We bought her from the same family owned hire company based at Uplands Marina, Anderton. They're named after 50s/60s screen legends Vivien Leigh, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. We cruised Audrey on the Bridgewater twice last year. The breach is such a tragedy.

This was absolutely fascinating. Josh, personally I'm glad you were filming instead of trying to be an extra-but-unnecessary hand. You helped when you were needed, but got on with the video when you weren't. That's your job, after all! I'm glad you were able to get the cat in to the vet, Diane (Dianne?). I hope the poor thing gets better quickly!

What makes you think you can paint the boat when it is wet? Surely, if you paint over damp metal it will just seal the moisture in and then the metal will rust underneath the 2K paint.

What is done to treat the actual bottom?
@kettlekett1319 минут бұрын
Hi 🙂👍 Taylors Aboard a Narrowboat 🤔I'm just wondering why you didn't paint under the Zinc blocks
@kettlekett138 минут бұрын
to stop the corrosion under blocks a bit what you should have done is paint the whole boat and then grinder where you want the Zinc Blocks and then welded it and then painted the weld and the zinc block too 😂🙂👍big corporate ship do that and big container ship they all do that but they are painting on some heavy paint marine paint's what has zinc embedded it yes they still mount the Zinc Blocks on to for added protection 👍👍
@Davidm1fcfСағат бұрын
Blacking looks a proper job! Did you have to do underneath as well?
@marinerhally2 сағат бұрын
Apologies for the stupid question, knew nothing about boats until the breach now I want to buy one 😂 What do the weights do?
@Tekwyzard46 минут бұрын
If you mean the silver things that were being welded on, they're not weights, they're actually big lumps of pure zinc, which is cast onto the mounting straps, and they're called sacrificial anodes. They prevent corrosion of the Steel and Iron of the boat by forming a galvanic circuit with the hull and through the water, sacrificially corroding in the process, which is why the older ones shown on the video are very worn away, and why they need to be replaced every so often.
@marinerhally20 минут бұрын
@Tekwyzard Thank you so much for the information sir

Question??? Is the bottom of the boat made of thicker steel so it doesn't need blacking as often as the sides?
@garybevan10222 сағат бұрын
Most Narrowboat are 10mm, 6mm & 4mm. 10mm Baseplate, 6mm Sides & 4mm Roof. Not a lot of boaters paint the baseplate as you really need the boat up quite high to this properly……also it’s a contentious issue amongst boaters…. Some swear by it & others think it’s a waste of time.
@Narrowboatnumberthree2 сағат бұрын
Just wondering why you chose not to black the baseplate there was good room to get under

They are called anodes and are an essential part of the boat maintenance cycle. They protect the underwater metal from galvanic corrosion. Also known as sacrificial anodes, they generally come in three metals - aluminium, magnesium and zinc.
@Zarcondeegrissom2 сағат бұрын
sacrificial anodes, the idea is they rust more than the hull to keep the hull from rusting worse.
