Thank you for your video and breaking down these basics... including how to tie that type of halter knot. Can you show us how you trained your horse to lower its head so low? I have a tall Friesan, and I'm short so I'm struggling with this! Thanks!

I have a mini so i havent done this to a taller horse, but I still taught my horse to lower his head despite his size so he can learn to relax. For a taller horse, I would start with a halter and gently put consistent, downward pressure on the halter. You want to start gently as if it's already been trained. Keep holding steady pressure even if it moves its head to the right/left/upwards until your horse drops its head even a little, then give an instant release. You'll want to repeat this until the horse understands you want them to lower the head a little. Then put pressure for longer and longer till it drops it's head even more. Don't release pressure till it gives you a good answer. It's also a good idea to say "head" or "down" or something like that so the horse will associate that word with the action. Once the horse has that down, I would try to put a stool or something to help you reach it's head if it's too high for you and start saying the associated word with using your hands to put gentle pressure on the poll until he understands you want him to lower the head. In my opinion I don't think you'll need to teach this part if your short cause you probably won't be able to reach if it's really tall but the associated word should help you not need to use a halter to lower his head. Hope this helps!
