one or two odd errors in that video...We Can Work It Out wasn't on Rubber Soul, and Paperback Writer wasn't on Revolver, but was released only as a single...

As others have said, there were several inaccuracies in the video, but it is a quick overview and there is sooo much more to know. Possibly the biggest thing left out was how many of their singles weren’t on their albums. The video didn’t even mention their biggest selling single “Hey, Jude” in 1968, for just one example. And, yes, they were really cranking out songs all during their career. When they started, they were trying to release 2 albums and 4 singles each year. In roughly 7 years, they produced the equivalent of 13 albums (one of which was a double album), and they had enough A and B side singles in addition to that to fill 2 more albums (Past Masters Vols. 1 & 2 which were put together later). They also had 5 movies, a BBC radio show, a cartoon series, appeared on radio and television shows, toured all over the world, made appearances and did interviews. John Lennon even wrote 2 books. They also evolved tremendously in that short time and kept reinventing themselves. They explored all kinds of musical genres--old and new--and put music together in new and surprising ways that no one had heard before. They walked down the hall of music and knocked doors down on either side for other artists to later go and explore further. They raised pop music to an art form and showed how anything was possible. In addition to their music, they had loads of charisma and charm. They were quick-witted and funny. They brought joy to the world. They also influenced the style of the era, and other folks beyond the music scene. As Alice Cooper Said, “Everybody was influenced by somebody, but I think everybody was influenced by The Beatles.”

What this video did not mention is that the Beatles have sold an estimated 2.5 Billion singles and had at least 20 #1 hits in the USA!

There are some inaccuracies in this video, there is SO MUCH MORE to know about their history than what is in this one. The album "YESTERDAY AND TODAY" was only released briefly with the "Butcher cover" It was pulled and the albums that were returned had a new cover pasted over it, a photo of them standing around an old travel trunk from the early 1900s, with Paul sitting in it. Since then the "BUTCHER COVER" is a collectible and people would peel off the "Trunk Cover" to see if the Butcher cover was underneath. If you were lucky enough to buy the Butcher Cover before it was pulled, or a peeled one, it is worth a LOT of money, especially if it is in pristine condition. He should have explained in the video that the album was given a new cover quickly. The Beatles had the Butcher cover, as a protest to Capitol records for the way they would "butcher" their albums. Cutting up their UK releases to create U.S. albums that had different covers and tracks from the UK albums, up until Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band when both the U.S. and U.K. albums had identical track listings , and all the albums after that were identical, Paul is now 80 years old and Ringo is 82. Paul toured earlier this spring (of 2022) and has toured continuously with sometimes a few years off between 1989 through 2022 (during CoVid he didn't tour, obviously) Paul's FIRST major world tour as a solo artist was in 1976 with his band WINGS which included his wife LINDA on keyboards and backing vocals. Ringo Starr had a brief tour this year too with his "All Star Band" As far as the guy that murdered John Lennon on Dec. 8, 1980 (John was only 40 years old), we true long time fans refuse to mention his name so as not to give him "fame" for what he did. Him being referred to as a "fan" is offensive to BEATLES' fans. All you need to do is go on line and look up JOHN LENNON'S MURDER and you will find all sorts of information about what happened and the murderers name. He is in prison for life and has been denied parole several times. Yoko Ono Lennon always attended every parole hearing.

It's a small point but Liverpool, when the Beatles were there, was in Lancashire, not Merseyside. The area called Merseyside, which includes Liverpool, wasn't created until about 1972. Also, the Mersey in Merseyside is pronounced Mer-zee. It's the name of the river Liverpool is on.

I’m glad you’re digging in! That’s a nice little synopsis, a few inaccuracies, but well enough. (I’d be surprised if you haven’t heard Yesterday and Here Comes the Sun and just didn’t realize they were The Beatles.) Lennon’s killer was just a lunatic, he’s changed his story over the years. He’s still trying to get parole but gets denied every time. BTE, Paul holds the Guinness World Record for “most successful musician and composer in popular music history” :) And he did 3 songs with Michael Jackson, I am certain you’ve heard 2 of them before.

Thanks so much for taking up on my suggestion! This group has so much history that's always so hard where to begin! Please add a few of these songs to your "to do" list, written by George Harrison, Something (official video) Here comes the Sun While my guitar gently weeps John's murderer, Mark Chapman, was obsessed with John. I don't fully understand the reasons for his actions. He came all the way from Hawaii to Manhattan, and hung around outside John's place all day. Earlier in the day, John had autographed an album. Another fan actually took a photo of this..this photo was later used to identify Mark Chapman. He waited until John and Yoko arrived at the front of the apartment building...called out Mr Lennon, 3 times, and shot him 3 times. John was taken to hospital but died shortly after. I remember hearing it on the radio whilst I was at work. I was so upset that my boss sent me home 😢
