Anna, I am very happy you are enjoying Dublin. The Republic of Ireland is a great example of a western democracy, where people are working through histories difficulties and striving for a better future. I can see a day in the future were the beautiful sights of Ukraine will be enjoyed by tourists in much the same way as the island of Ireland does today.

Anna, I’m so glad that your trip took you to Ireland! We in Mexico have a very special and warm love of Ireland and its people because during the Mexican American war when we lost half of our territory to the U.S. which is now the U.S. SouthWest it was the Irish under the San Patricio or St. Patrick’s Battalion that John O’Reilly fought with the Mexican army to confront the U.S. forces! Erin Go Bragh! This was their battle cry! Unfortunately we lost and now there is a wall to separate us from the land stolen by a stronger army! I pray that this doesn’t happen to your people! SLAVA UKRAINI!

And defenders of the dictator Santa Anna, trying to reconquer Texas? Several other provinces rose in revolt, including the Yucatan. If you care, Mexico had the larger army, but its generals were crap. Much like Russia today, in that regard. Now let’s stick to Ukraine.

Good man Luis for remembering that history. I read how the Irish men in the American army would hear the prayers at night from the Mexican Army. They felt they were on the wrong side and went over to help Mexico. After the war 50 men of St. Patrick's Battalion were executed making it the largest execution in US history.

My family was from Cork, and my younger sister had the chance to spend several weeks touring Ireland. Pity you don’t have enough time to experience all of it. The music in particular! To all: if you guys haven’t done so yet, start using KZbin to broaden your musical education! Start with The Chieftains. Traditional musicians who’ve been in the forefront of Irish culture for half a century. And Emma O’Sullivan: a brilliant dancer in Galway City who’ll put a grin on your face every time. And, needless to say, the late, great Rory Gallagher!!! Don’t get me started on Rory or you’ll never shut me up.

In 1915 my family immigrated from Ireland to the USA, they were on the last safe voyage of the Lusitania. On its way out of New York the ship was hit by a German torpedo and sank taking nearly 1200 people with it. The crazy thing is.... what noone knew at the time in my family was that there was another family on the ship they would soon meet that had come from what is now Ukraine. They eventually meet and my great grandparents find eachother. I could not tell you this story today if that ship had been hit on its way to New York. Its amazing thinking about the odds of all this happening just right, kinda puts some real meaning to the butterfly effect. War is horrible, but in the end love brought our two family's together. By the way! I hope you get to try some Guinness while you are there, its one of my favorite beers :P Keep up the great work Anna! Victory for Ukraine!

Good to hear that the people of Ireland are showing solidarity with Ukraine. There are interesting parallels in the way Ireland has come out of the shadow of its colonial past under British rule, has built a strong sense of national identity, and especially since joining the European Union has become one of the most dynamic economies in Europe. Oh, I’m delighted you got to visit what we call Dirty Dublin, or even the Dirty Old Town, after a song by that name, by a band called The Dubliners. It was lovely to see my home town through the eyes of such an enthusiastic visitor. Next time you must look outside the city. Or look at other cities. Dublin is unique and quite different from most of Ireland, which is not a bad thing, but does add interest for those who make the effort to discover more. Some of your videos show landscapes that could have been lifted straight out of the Irish midlands. Kerry is wildly different and most of the west coast is windswept and sparsely populated, due to the stony, infertile land, battered by the Atlantic wind, but the people that do live there and their heritage are a bit special. And, because it’s a small island, you’re never more than a couple of hours from a city, so if the solitude becomes too much, you can quickly get a dose of civilisation, to sort yourself out. Limerick, Galway and Sligo cities all nestle on river estuaries on the west coast and host facilities you’ll probably enjoy. For me, I prefer to boat down the middle of the country, on the Shannon, which offers a very different pace of life. Thanks for your wonderful presentation. I look forward to seeing your country, though I think I’m going to need several years worth of annual holidays, to do it justice.

Trinity College is such a nice place. So is the national museum. They have some incredible prehistoric artifacts.

That old thing for cleaning shoes is called a ‘boot scraper.’ My grandparents on both sides had them outside their house doors, to clean off mud, slush, snow, ice, manure etc before going into the entryway to remove your boots or shoes. When their houses were built the roads were not paved yet, winter was longer, people walked very much more on the unpaved roads, thru the woods and barns, and plus they were large working farms!! So we really didn’t want to track all that junk inside and mess up the floors all the time.

Also, homesickness: The Irish have so many songs about being being homesick, you couldn't count them. If you are still in Dublin, find some music.

I've been to Dublin and it's a lovely city. What really makes it special though are the people... the Irish folk are great! Funny, witty, generous and welcoming. I'll definitely be going back one day!

I went Ireland when I was a kid, back in the late '60's - and kissed The Blarney Stone! If you're still in Dublin, it's only a 3½ hour drive & you'll be lucky for Life! 🍀🙂🍀🙂🍀 Slava Ukraine! 💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇲

no, it's the gift of "the gab" you are getting from Blarney (fluently talking a lot.) Anna has that already. "Since 'blarney' means persuasive eloquence, it follows that the blarney stone gives one the gift of gab."

Your chaotic videos are much fun Miss Anna! Since my situation does not allow me to travel around to beautiful spots, it’s nice to see them through your camera lens. I am also a lover of culture and language. I am very grateful that there are people like the NGO you meeting with who honor, cherish, and keep the memories alive. They are all important. Slava, Ukrainian! 🇺🇸🌻🇺🇦

красивий Anna, very interesting trip to Dublin! Thanks so much! I am a descendant of Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, who died fighting Vikings near Dublin when he was 80 years old! Brian won the battle, but it was the end of him! I have been to England, but not Ireland. Slava Ukrajina! 🇺🇦!
