Note that speeches made former leaders are short, rich and brilliant whereas those made by current leaders are long, dribbled, distorted and boring.

Whow, I really enjoy these videos. The man in the grey suit introducing Brigadier Yar’adua to the line up is the late M T Usman (a cousin to the Yar’aduas), then Permsec Ministry of Works and Housing. After retiring he became a business man and Chairmen of various companies including Julius Berger.

Merci beaucoup mon ami. To this day I don’t understand why general Abacha made a martyr out of of this man. Who by all accounts, was not the most brilliant officer’s of your late father generation. C’était une erreur très tragique. Paix à son âme.

@Youssef Camara, I'm not familiar with his military record. I think he wasn't commissioned into the the army until after the Congo Peacekeeping efforts and I don't know much about his activities during the civil war. But he was good enough to have been selected for training at Sandhurst. When it comes to statesmanship then I suppose his reputation is tied in with whatever sucesses and failures the Murtala Muhammed-Obasanjo military regime had.

@@pdbone77 Right. He was promoted from Colonel to Brigadier the previous month (July 5, 1978) along with Buhari (N/308) and Ray Dumuje (N/103). Was he with Yar'Adua at Sandhurst? Yar'Adua was of course promoted (Lt. Col. to Brig.) over a good number of officers after Murtala's assassination.
