Went to reel mower. Most likely. Great engines. I had a bunch I got going. Love the sound of them.

Beautiful lil motor. My grandmother had a reel lawn mower that had the same little motor. The clutch deal on the pulley was hooked to a rod that turned the blades on and off

I figured it worked liked that. Wish I got the whole mower.

@@ZigZag9 these mid model year engines have the full recoil pull unlike the early ones with the wrap around pull chord....those were brutal to start

I used to have a WB, same engine with cast iron head. It had a kick start. Try a paper air cleaner and see if it doesn't have more power. Mine was a 1938 model from a cream separator at a local dairy.

Great engine! They don't make them like that anymore!

You got that right. Everything is disposable these days.

Nice. I have mine from my go cart in the 80's. It is a 1955. Interesting you have that piece of shroud on top of the head that attaches to the cowling at the base of the plug

What a cool little engine! They don't make them like that anymore (unfortunately).

Yeah. These engines you could actually rebuild if needed. Newer aluminum block engines are 50/50 these days.

Sounds like Bogart's boat in "The African Queen".

6s i believe is rated at 1 1/2 horsepower. Them little cast iron briggs engines will run forever. from the color of your engine and the pulley clutch setup I believe your engine came off of a Toro reel mower.

Yes it did. When I got it there was no gas tank or air cleaner. No idea what happened to the mower.
