After watching this clip I degreased and sprayed my Masport B and S lawnmower,sprayed the body with a can of enamel black ,gave it an oil change. Looks good , starts first pull with some fresh petrol . going to spray the lawnmower body soon . B and S sure know how to make great motors . Great clip , thanks for sharing the knowledge with us all :)

You should show the can labels on the cleaners and paint. I know you are using heat resistant paint and engine cleaner, but some watching this might think you are using dollar store paint and window cleaner. A little explanation instead of music would be more beneficial too.

You should be using a torque wrench on the head bolts. Otherwise the thing I will point out to a lot of folks is this isn't a car engine, a typical 15 year old B&S engine probably doesn't have more than 200-300 hours of use on it so you can use a lot of barnyard meckanic tricks on it and it will likely outlast whatever it's used on. Most mower decks seem to rust out as people do not clean the bottom of them after use, leaving wet grass stuck to the bottom of the deck, ruining it. Back in the 60's a few lawnmower companies (Hahn for example) used aluminum castings for mower decks and those mowers lasted 50 years or longer.

Pro tip: your lawnmower will last a little longer if you fill engine oil after 'restoration' . Also remember to apply a little oil onto the air filter sponge.

I noticed you left off the oil breather elbow at the carb. Was there a reason? The open pipes let oil droplets coat the outside of the carb and tank, and the inlet to the carb can suck trash into the venturi. It will run ok for a while that way but it will cause problems over time. It's been a long time since I tore down an old Briggs. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

@thomasbuchert73383 жыл бұрын
Das war noch Qualität. Obwohl hergestellt in China.

Hello and a big thank you because thanks to you I have just rebuilt my engine and I would never have done it alone. When starting the engine it smokes a lot and seems to be heating up. new rings, and seals at bottom and top of crankshaft .also did you lap in the valves? if not you didn't do a complete overhaul
@benhart74693 жыл бұрын
what does lap in the valves mean bud? I'm about to restore mine
@mariusenslin3 жыл бұрын
@@benhart7469 its when you take a grinding compound (looks like a paste with fine micro sanding/ grinding granules) and smear it around the inside at the top of the valves, drop it into the engine (where the valves go), make use of a grinding tool (With a “rubber sucker” on the end and a shaft to roll/ grind with your hands..imagine making a fire in the field motion), which will grind away any carbon around the valves, while at the same time polish and embed/ “seal” the new valves.
