Mine runs at at full throttle even when the throttle level is all the way down. I can slow the engine down by pushing the linkage next to the choke, but it springs back open all the way when I release it. Any idea why it wants to stay at full throttle?

Hello.I adjusted the governor due to it coming loose and now it runs around 3000-3200 rpm. Its a 2013 craftsman 3000. But now the idle is way to high. And speed control will not work. It has a new carborator as well. I try adjusting the spring you mention in the video, but rpm will not lower. Is there something else i can do it?

Mine was surging extremely bad and i tryed everything. New carb, plug, air filter, bigger jet , coil and ended up the governor spring needed adjusted

What would make on a Briggs 1 cyl vert. , the throttle plate& the governor lever ossilate back & forth ,(engine speed go up & down rapidly) . it starts up quickly, you have to keep the choke on pretty much or it will die..carb Cleaned out ,wire,carb cleaner, blown out all passages new needle valve,seat looks in nice shape, not flooding, more starving for gas. That's what i got from this. He bent up to raise so bending it down should lower i guess.

Bending up would put more tension on the spring and bending down would put less tension on the spring

I have a Toro Vtwin 656cc that was blowing white smoke. I cleaned the carburetor and did an oil change. (Fuel in Oil) Now I have a very low idle and engaging the blades kills the engine. Thoughts?

When mine blew white smoke I also cleaned the carburetor and did an oil change, diving deeper the head gasket blew. I would start checking a few simpler things before diving deeper. When it dies when you engage the blades it means either you have a bad safety switch or your mower deck pulleys are bad or your mower deck stoppers are stuck unengadged my lt 1000 had that problem I changed the pulleys then it ran find for it having gas in the oil that means your float is not floating or it's getting stuck down best bet is a new carberator

I just replaced the carburetor on the same engine which is great because it runs but now I’m having another issue. It doesn’t seem to come off full choke after starting although the linkage looks fine. Do you know what causes that?

So I thought it was my governor so I tried to adjust that now it doesn’t run good at all and stalls out. I put the full throttle on and turned governor clockwise and tighten. Is that correct ?

Same. Looking at the carb, when I throttle down the butterfly only closes slightly. I can close it all the way with my finger. But it springs back to the 3/4 open position. I'm looking at the linkage on the one you have here, and seems to have a little bend to it. I don't believe mine does, so I'm going to check on that tomorrow. But if you have another solution all help is welcome. Thanks

I dont see whats so bad about the mower , it had bad gas and a dirty carb, small adjust . It is going to have bad gas if its used.

there is no "triangle" piece on mine. just looked. the throttle isnt working at all. 1 speed. no fast no slow. chokes it down when you get push tbe throttle to the choke position.
