Brightline and FEC are working hard on these upgrades! i can't wait for Brightline and FEC trains running from 60-110 mph on ATC20

They are tearing down Harvey's now. Cool to see it one last time before demolition started. I did not know it was 100 years old. Lived here 20 years and I never went into it.

It was a neat place when it was open and had delicious oranges. Sad to see it go.

I live in Texas and would love to ride Brightline someday. I have been watching your update videos religiously for probably over a year now. Very well produced, and narrated! The music isn't over the top like in many other videos, and you don't ramble on. Love your videos!!

I can't believe that after almost 3 years of nonstop construction it will open next year. Can't wait to get down here and see all this!

Great work. It's one thing to hear about the progess and project overview but it's another thing to physically see how much has been done. Those turnout/cross overs are Definitely going to allow for some high speed cross overs. Keep up the great work. Always great seeing your videos

That Publix gets me all the time! Now I look for the closed Publix in your posts. Still waiting to see what’s on the other side of the tunnel!

It’s open again now. That section of the video was filmed in early November

Awesome video! I’ve never visited this area of Florida, but as a railfan I am very intrigued by these Brightline projects! -Mike

The public EIS document describes all the track arrangements and speeds pax/freight. But some changes were made after the document, such as an extra track at the plywood place by the Virtual Railfan camera. By the way there is a label missing in the video just after it turns back north @13:26. These videos are A+, good sense of where everything is.
@RoamingRailfan Жыл бұрын
There was an error in that label discovered after the video was published so I blurred it out.

Great aerial views!!! I can wait until I can ride those tracks at 110. Are both tracks commissioned and in active use now for BL testing and FEC freights?

If "A picture is worth a thousand words" your drone film is worth millions of words. Excellent work. My only concern would be lack of solar panels on most of the building along the rail tracks. Saddens me.
@RoamingRailfan Жыл бұрын
Solar panels are not really a thing in this area outside of the kind used to heat up pools.
@hargibson18 Жыл бұрын
@@RoamingRailfan They very much so could and should be though. Solar is super viable in Florida, the state government and utilities are somewhat antagonistic towards residential and commercial solar though.

Is the mainline of the FEC from Miami to Cocoa completely double track now? I could have sworn in one of the recent test train videos that there was a segment of single track mainline between Miami and Cocoa.

Aside from the Orlando Corridor, do you have any info on how much real estate (if any) Brightline/FEC had to acquire for this project? With the exception of highly restricted zones like inner-city areas, most railroad right-of-ways are 100 feet wide, or more, easily accommodating triple track. Just curious. Cool video, thanks for the update!
@RoamingRailfan Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, no land had to be acquired along the FEC corridor
@J3scribe Жыл бұрын
@@RoamingRailfan Seems legit. How much was the land grab between Cocoa and Orlando? Was Eminent Domain used?
@davidoliver3415 Жыл бұрын
It was a two track railroad up until the early seventies or so. When the FEC didn’t have to run any passenger trains they didn’t need two tracks. I lived in Eau Gallie when the union struck the FEC because of crew size. There were many derailment’s. I saw one where Babcock street crosses the tracks. Railcars were piled up about 2 1/2 stories tall. The switch at Rinker 2 Materials was misaligned.
@RoamingRailfan Жыл бұрын
Even that required minimal purchases since they are using the existing highway right of way
@J3scribe Жыл бұрын
@@RoamingRailfan Ah. I seem to recall you explaining the arrangement, I just don't remember. A long term lease on the property, or some such?
