Performance improvements is huge (30 milion polygons model works without any problems) and ambience occlusion looks great. I just wanna see dark UI in next version!

Very good update indeed , for future versions would be nice to see sectioncut´s width by Layer and/or Material, we would get rid of "stacking layers" in LayOut

It realy took me 2 days to upgrade from 2023 to 2024 and set everything up, bugs with almost all the plugins i use but the developers were very responsive and now looks that everything is ok, very happy with the upgrade it is a big change in speed and AO is great also, i guess with the new engine that was normal to be a transition

You can always count on Brightman's Design to take care of everything when it comes to these matters. Very practical, all about consistency and smooth workflow, no BS. If I were to describe your approach with a quote, it would be 'Keep it simple, stupid'.

Thanks for the kind words! My process is often to make things as absolutely complicated as possible then dial it back to what is actually teachable. Luckily I have excellent help with the programming and an awesome upgrade like SketchUp 2024 makes us all look good. Thank you!

One thing i would like to point out about, when i upgraded from SU2021 to SU2023, is the plugins related to going absolutely fullscreen stopped working due to the total change of file structure of SU23, disabling the plugin devs to not be able to give total fullscreen function. If that is the same case with SU24, i hope trimble gives that function inbuilt so as to allow to take screenshots of SU works without and icon clutter.....I hope u can pass this message to the SU Dev team....its a feature dearly missed nowadays.

I just upgraded to SketchUp 2024, but I find the Ambient Occlusion setting is greyed out. Could this be because my Mac doesn't support the new graphics engine setting?

Weird!? Make sure you check the "Ambient Occlusion" box on so you can adjust the sliders?

They should add simple reflection option to sketchup , new interface for plugins so you can "dock" extension window to Tray. I agree 2024 is small step to make sketchup better compared to years 2017-2023

Not sure about this update. Performance updates sure good changes but ambient occlusion is not a big deal. Also sketchup needs more updates about ui changes about plugins which is a mess at the moment. Updates like stackable icons etc...

Me thinks back to sketchup 8 and there has been nothing but tiny incremenal changes which amount to pretty much nothing. Trimble have been dilly dallying for over a decade. To do anythng usefull or complex you need to mess around with plugins and the usefull ones are mostly $$.

I used it and Sketchup Layout to make the plans for my house 5 years ago. But now I got a 3D printer (Bambu PS1 with AMS) and sketchup is painfull compared to parameterised STEP modelling in Fusion 360 or OnShape.

Performance improvements? Don't be ridiculous! Layout and Sketchup aren't slow; you're just modeling wrong! Does this mean no more gaslighting of desperately frustrated users in the forums? Truly a new era is upon us.

Agreed! It's not LayOut... It's you! I'm with you on that... Reasonable/responsible modeling eliminates 95% of the issues. Stoked on these new performance upgrades, but let's not slip on proper lightweight modeling techniques...
