- A phone with 4 or even 3 GB with a powerful processor works fast enough to let you switch from app to app and do other things.
- If you think someone might ever want to track your location, they'll be able to do it even if you take the SIM card out.
- Unless you go for a one-dollar knock-off, quality third party chargers and cables are totally safe for your smartphone.
- Dimming your screen does help save some charge. But that whole automatic brightness mode is brought to you by a light sensor that’s probably going to spend even more power on collecting and analyzing data about the surroundings to pick the right light level.

Actually, apps that are stored in RAM use CPU cycles from time to time. Those cost processing power, time and battery life. Keep apps in the RAM, though. Forcing your CPU to close an app only to have your operating system check the most frequently used apps and reload them into RAM (because it's faster than the phone flash storage and because the OS is designed to keep things running smoothly) actually uses more power.

There is a difference between RAM and storage memory. RAM is volatile memory (it goes blank when turned off or reboot) just for running applications and does not store anything long term and it is wiped out when you close the app. More is only better for running more apps at the same time. Then there is the storage like 64GB, 128GB, SD memory cards, etc. That is where everything you download is saved like pictures and music.

#20 I have an issue with. I’ve seen some tear downs of cheap gas station chargers (some of which actually aren’t THAT cheap) and they have pretty seriously dangerous internals. They can damage your smart phone and even start fires. I think a good rule of thumb is to not necessarily use ONLY OEM chargers (from Apple/Samsung etc) but to AT LEAST get them from a reputable manufacturer like Belkin for example. It’s the “no name” stuff at the register at the liquor store you probably want to avoid. Just my 2 cents
