A salute De Antonio Yachts for trying this out.The displacement weight is only 1450kg (according to their web site), which I supose is including the motor and the battery, and getting 30 knots out of 50kW for a 7,20m boat speaks for itself. Using the catamaran advantage of low drag and add the fixed foil is the way to go, avoiding the cost intensive active foiles of a Candela and the likes. Even if the price is still a little high for the utility it provides (including the still low range), this shows the direction of the evolution of sustainable boating. Just remember that the BMW i3 battery design is quite a few years old, new batteries have already much better capacity to weight ratios and the prices are coming down as well. I will watch this space.

Very nice video, THANK YOU for the tour. High quality, perfect editing, really lovely. In regard to the boat and the design, I understand what De Antonio is doing … unfortunately, they didn’t crack it yet. - The sun pad with 150 cm is not long enough for many men. - The platform is not wide enough to go from starbord to port - I miss a table to create a second place with the bench and the seats - The toilet is way to small - €130k excluded VAT is a lot of money. I could buy an Axopar and one Tesla to cover for the CO2 that the boat will generate. Again, thank you for entertaining me with your videos. I appreciate your work.

It works out well for Deantonio. They sell the electric boat to a customer along with one of their regular boats to tow in the electric boat when the batteries die 😂.

Actually 6hrs if you get past your blind prejudice and listen to the actual video. Given most do 50hrs a year that is plenty

@@gw4182 no "prejudice" here. That's literally pre-judgement. My judgement is harsh but it is not a pre-judgement. The PHYSICS of electric boats does not work and they won't work and cannot work until the physics change. Anyway, the builder's own website (let's take the official specs over the journalist repeating a salesman's statement) says you get, maximum, 24 miles at 20 knots. So a 100% changed battery. No battery fade. All perfectly brand new and charged. If you have a perfectly clam sea state and zero tide you can make it 10 miles out before you have to turn around and rush home. Else you end up ADRIFT in the wide blue. Electric boats do not work. Sorry pal. The physics are against it. I wish it were not the case but it is. Would you like me to go through the energy density and energy to weight ratios with you? I've been through this before, mate. I'm not some late-night large lout walk-in you know, I do happen to know what I'm talking about.

Works for most people, just have to understand the limitations. Many people just go from marina to anchor for a swim (hence 50 hours a year average annual usage) and go back again. In sydney harbor you may only go 5 miles at a time. Obviously if you want offshore fishing you get a different boat.

@@anthony-1357 Fifty hours, much of which is at cruising speed. Not fifty hours at displacement speed... certainly not in a sports boat. Can you honestly not see the difference? I do a lot of 25 mph driving because I live in a city centre. Just how idiotic would it be for a salesman to tell me I only need to drive at 25 mph on a motorway because "that's what I normally drive at anyway." No, apples and oranges. Not the same. A three mile each way yacht trip gets to a very different place if you're doing 25 mph or 2.5 mph.
