maps have to be designed around jetpacks, and jetpack binds for console gamers typically mean you cant even aim and jetpack at the same time, the maps have to include a ton of vertical play that ruins the map for players who don't use them, and makes the aesthetics of the map kind of bad. Terminal, Estate and Highrise in the og MW2 were aesthetically amazing because the devs didn't have to add a ton of vertical platforms and wallrun areas for jetpacks.

I miss AW… It gets a lot of hate, but it was the first non boots on the ground COD that introduced a countless number of new mechanics. It also had one of the best campaigns IMO.

Bo3 movement was pretty good. I like the mix of regular movement plus smooth jet pack movement that isn’t too fast. The best thing about bo3 though was a good variety of weapons, interesting specialists, but mainly a wide variety of really vibrant maps. Lots of colors, very different settings, live aspects with lights moving and stuff, etc. Also had a couple wacky maps if I remember like the table with all the food and stuff. With bo3, there was a lot of goals that were fun to watch with getting nukes, getting the 70 kill game, hitting clips, etc. I played the new cod once to 1v1 a friend for fun and the aim assist on console made it feel less like an fps game and more like whatever gta5 was, and it was also really slow. Kinda funny looking back, I never realized how good bo3 was while playing it.

The last few years of FPS multiplayer games really burnt me out. I was really excited for Halo Infinite, but we saw how that turned out. FPS AAA games try to appeal to everyone but end up all feeling similar. I've started playing single player experiences because at least I'm having consistent fun and fresh experiences.

I enjoyed AW's movement the most, but I loved the polished look and feel of BO3, if they combined the 2 that would be awesome. Most of the people I spoke to who didn't like the movement in those games were just bad at the games and wouldn't admit that it was the reason why they disliked them. I just found BO3's movement a little clunky, IW's was a little more snappy

it's still a wip, but BO3 is getting a client like IW4X, can't wait for it to go public, it's been fun revisiting BO3 with all the lootbox weapons unlocked, only downside is you mostly can only play against bots as the few servers up rn aren't very active as they're mostly stability test servers

I agree with you about Black Ops 3 player retention. I decided to stick with it instead of hopping to the newest Call of Duty , and played it for awhile then moved on to things like OverWatch. Although I did go back to it a few times over the years because it was just fun and nostalgic

Speaking from XP from Titanfall 2, i feel like that would be a good movement style for Cod. You can still Slide, you get a double jump (kinda) and you can wall run. You can even do Parkour if your REALLY good at it (im not one of them). The TRICK is not HALF ASSING it! Incorporate it into the MAP DESIGN and make it feel Fluid.

Been saying it for years, Black Ops 3 was COD's peak, multiplayer was in the best state it ever was with great movement, awesome weapons and good maps. Also the Zombies Mode in BO3 was Sick for the most part (last few maps were hit and miss but still good)

I really preferred IW and it's implementation of advanced movement compared to BO3 and AW. No minimap pings for jumping/jetpacking encouraged using the jetpack more, specialist specific movement tech (sliding ads/air directional dashing/phase shift dash), faster jetpack recharge rate made it possible to chain movement in really fun ways that added to the skill gap. AW felt too erratic and stiff with how you could only dash a certain direction (also eco jumping appeared on minimap if you didnt equip a perk to mask it) and BO3 you also had to use perks to keep your jumping off the minimap and to increase the recharge speed of the jetpack to make it more useful. Anyway I would wish they brought back Advanced movement cods. It's a good mix of Arena FPS movement and speed with casual fps fun.

I play bo3 on pc all the time, we usually have a group of 3 with mod menus but never use the cheats and only crash the people using aimbot so we can keep the lobbies clean :)

bo3 was the first cod and game i ever started playing online and really started getting good at video games in general. i fell in love with everything about it, and i completely agree with your take on the state of cod. the last cod i enjoyed was 2019 mw and it was very hit or miss with how the games went. i would love to see a bo3 remastered or even a brand new jetpack cod. i doubt they’ll take the chance, but i feel like it will work out in their favor in due time

Same here, it was the first cod I played properly and competitively online, at first I didn't take advantage of the movement, cos I was bad at it😂, but after i began to learn, and saw my progress, its 2024 and im still playing bo3. In the meantime I did try other cods, I played a bit of bo4 but bo4 in my opinion is crap, just a rip off, poorly designed bo3, I also played ww2 which I enjoyed, but again, ww2 wasn't as exciting and vibrant, fast paced as bo3. A new jetpack cod would be a great idea

This video is music to my ears I liked the jet pack cods and I recently bought mw2 I really only play it with family and friends but even then lobbies are skill based every match feels like a ranked match the two best maps are not a separate playlist and then the map designs are horrible I have to check every corner before I push it’s horrible

Miss the advanced movement era. 2016 playing BO3 and Titanfall just wanted to get better and loved outsmarting other players. Edit- Didn't play fps for awhile and was sad to realize titanfall 2 is unplayable and BO3 is limited so I got Halo Infinite and have been enjoying it, not sure if its going to get a community like Siege did a couple years after launch.

I wasn't the biggest fan of advanced movement, but I had a decent time with BO3. Treyarch and Infinith Ward used to each have their own distinct style of gameplay, but now it feels like Activision wants every CoD to play exactly the same, with only the setting being different. Advanced movement would at least shake things up a bit

BO6 introducing omnimovement will be a good experiment to see if the community can handle evolving movement tech without a lot of backlash. Personally from playing the beta it feels like Titanfall 2’s pilot movement (which you might’ve guessed by my profile I enjoy a lot lol) so I adjusted pretty quickly. If it’s successful then maybe they’ll remake one of the future warfare games, I use a controller with extra reprogrammable buttons so holding a to jump and jet pack while aiming is fine for me, but I can imagine average players feeling frustrated they either have to shell out money for a fancy controller or learn the claw technique or bumper jumper control scheme to compete. Guess we’ll see.

Honestly as a cod franchise veteran (been playing since cod 2 release way back in 05) we should just the franchise die with dignity and let treyarch and infinity ward focus on other projects other than cod. The sad thing is that my casual friends actually enjoy WZ2 the most. They refused to play WZ1 or MW1. Now that the skill gap is virtually gone, they can actually get kills and beat skilled players due to RNG and the fact that the game is a pre-aim camping simulator

I agree completely that CoD deserves new movement because all the paste eaters at infinity turd want to turn this game into insurgency sandstorm and arma, however I don't necessarily agree that we need jetpacks to make the game better. I really didn't like infinite warfare or advanced warfares jetpacks at all, however I really enjoyed BO3 (one of my favourite games fyi) - and that's because treyarch made a good game in general with polished gameplay and movement. - It's like hearing my friends say they're tired wwii era, however wwii games aren't bad - it's the devs that make them garbage, whereas if you were to have treyarch develop a wwii game you know they would make it good. The core issue is that activison is the business suits making decisions based off of numbers and analytics for money, and pushing their workhorses: (cod devs) to output garbage in a small duration of time. What's worse is that raven, sledgehammer and infinityturd aren't any wiser on how to make a CoD branded game (they're turning the series into something it's not). I think treyarch is the last dev team forced standing in a business that doesn't have any passion anymore. If you ask me this company needs to be rehauled. I hope this series dies off and gets kicked in the knees for the company to realize what they need to do right, because they aren't capable of taking any criticism or feedback from their community. OR, the entire treyarch team abandon ship and make a passion project :~)

if warzone had more elements of skill expression, it would be so much fun. With that said, I still play WZ2 and DMZ but this game I can confidently say this couldn't entice me for longer than a month. Even the grinds for camo and customization for CoD just hasn't been the same as earlier cods.

Ok but what were the numbers of active players back then compared to other cods.. BO3 ATH was 62k at release, dropped to 30k a month after, same for MW3, COD4, bo2.. Movement players are unhappy but they represent less than 5% of the actual player base

Ahh the movement shooters conundrum. People want movement tech, but not too much or else it's "too difficult". It has to be juust right except even if you find that sweet spot it's still shit on by casual and hardcore people alike. "It's too hard", "it's too simple". So what happens? The game dies. Then the few people that still remain (if any) are the ones that took time to learn the tech, further alienating new players because they're guaranteed to get shit on and have a terrible time. Titanfall, quake, tribes, all dead because everyone stopped playing them (I know that's not the sole reason but a big one), mostly due to the effort of learning the game's tech being non existent with a majority of players. Oddly enough, after those games die, the same people that ditched them say "man I wish my games had more movement!" Thus the vicious cycle continues. It's like gun violence, it's a problem that'll never be solved lol. I agree with your video though I LOVED the jetpack era. The faster a shooter the more fun IMO. Unfortunately brining back jetpacks I think is the unpopular opinion from what I understand
