If you have never experienced Alfie Boe live, I have to say you must make the effort if you can. He is a presence - a true force of nature, with a level of energy that is truly astonishing. There are waves of humor that leave you rolling in the aisles. Then...as you settle in to listen, his voice grabs you by the throat and leaves you gasping for breath. He is that good. I saw him with the Phoenix Symphony and the musicians of the orchestra were in tears right along with the audience!

Wow! He IS classically trained. He understands very clearly how much more support you need to sing a high note pianissimo, than to sing it loudly! And, the amount of buzz he has when he goes for it! He honestly reminds me of Mario Lanza! To put it in soprano terms, he has Caballe's high pianissimo AND Callas's squillo! Bravo, sir! An absolute pleasure to listen to you!
@Ignasimp2 жыл бұрын
He has no squillo nor depth. He sounds nothing like Lanza. He sounds like Bruce Ford.

@@Ignasimp Hmmm. Well, I suppose everyone hears things differently. To me, I hear more of a lyric tenor in Bruce Ford. Hmmm. Perhaps Alfie Boe is a potential future spinto tenor, and that is what I am responding to. I don't know...

@@pointofnoreturn3103 i'm not talking about voice type, I'm talking about technique. Are you saying Alfie sounds like a spinto tenor to you?

@@Ignasimp I suppose it would be a question of how much weight he has to his tone, as well as overall size. In truth, I'm not a guru of determining facher. To be totally honest, I haven't determined my own fach. The only thing I can tell you is that coloratura agility has come FAR easier than legato! In the end, I am a Susan kind of soprano! Lol!
